What did you think of when you saw today’s number pop up?

Was it the July 4th fireworks or are you more of a musical buff who went straight to the overture?

Being the culture vulture of our family I thought you’d like to know a little more about why Tchaikovsky wrote the piece.

It was all to do with the successful defense of the Russian empire against the invasion of that fierce Frenchman Napoleon in 1812.

It wasn’t the history that inspired the maestro though it was the epic depiction of the events of that autumn written much later in Leo Tolstoys War and Peace.

Makes you wonder which author will write the epic about Vladimir Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin and who might compose the tune!!

Sometimes it feels like I live in a zoo.

Not only is Benjamin Bunny and his entire family circle encamped in my yard but we now have at least two coyotes!!

A neighbor spotted the first at 8:55 and posted immediately on our local facebook group page not fifteen minutes later the parents spotted another.

This one was audacious stood gazing at Ma as she tried to get its photo.

We suspect that they may have sensed the birth of a fawn is imminent!

It’s a bit scary though that these critters are out in full view in the middle of the day.

We are going to stay vigilant as the last thing we need is a case of rabies.

If you have a week ahead when it seems almost every minute is accounted for does it make you want to stay in bed?

That’s what Ma and me are doing right now.

We have put all the gotta get that gotta go there gotta make this thing and that thing on the back burner and decided to stretch out really long from tippy toes to fingers and take in some gigantic yawns.

I am working on opening my eyes one at a time that way too much light can’t get inside me.

If it weren’t for the fact that I’m thirsty I might just shut them both up again.

I also may need a pee so I’ll do two more stretches and then spring into action.

When you are awakened by a thunderstorm of epic proportions and prolonged endurance you have to ponder something profound.

In the middle of the night we hit on a good mind blower while listening attentively for the tornado sirens.

Why are typhoons and hurricanes given different names.

Do they spin differently? Are they caused by different phenomena.

Well here’s the answer.

They’re the same! Only difference is their location.

So dear reader if you happen to be awake again tonight with the next round of storms that will be one less problem for you to solve.

Oh and for good measure they can be collectively classified cyclones

Precious Peeps it’s PITS PERFECT here to whisk you into a wonderful weekend.

I am in particularly good humor because the Gizz looks like a goon.

He is shaved almost naked and looks like a giraffe all neck and legs and no head.

He really is out of proportion.

He also stinks of perfume like a proper peony.

Yesterday he was still recovering from the trauma of Wednesday so I was gracious enough to show him some moves and breathing exercises.

Today I’m not being so tolerant.

He is a pathetic piece of a puppy.

Not a pure bred like me who needs no grooming to look gorgeous.

Be like me peeps; perfect in every way.

You know that I needed a haircut. Well yesterday was the day for the chop.

Ma whisked me into the car at 8:45am and we raced to get her shopping as she had a full house at the tearoom.

She dropped me at the groomers at 10:10 am. This was five whole minutes ahead of schedule and she was feeling smart.

The place was full of other canines which stressed me out more than you can even dream.

It was a nightmare of barking of all sorts and sizes.

Finally, at 3:15pm Ma returned to collect me.

Of course I looked beautiful it’s me after all but things got worse.

Not one but two GIGANTIC thunderstorms on the way home.

I took a back seat. I’m not brave enough for shotgun under such circumstances.

I ask you dear reader just how much can a single canine bear!

Today I will do some yoga.

Precious Peeps it’s PITS!

I’m here as always to help you over the humpty with my tidings of comfort and joy!

That by the way was just a small hint that Christmas Eve is only 32 weeks away so get cracking on the shopping Granny!

Now some funny stuff has been going on in our yard.

Dad discovered it yesterday.

We have become an overnight mushroom farm.

These are not your usual fungi.

They are supersized giants.

Just take a look at the size of this specimen.

You could make an entire batch of vol au vents with it.

As we are not experts in this domain we decided not to stew it.

Who knows it may be entirely edible but then again it might do us all in.

So better safe than sorry.

We will just stick to Aldi for such provisions.

Did you know that Ma and Pa have just defined the 39th wedding anniversary as THE QUARTZ.

Some people buy gifts for each other. My parents buy countertop and back splash!!

Now here is the fifty million dollar question do we tile the back splash or run the quartz all the way up the wall for an extra $2000?

Please take a timely decision on this dear reader as there is a risk I may not sleep well for the next week if Ma is still tossing and turning on this critical point.

My feeling is bite the bullet and go full quartz ahead but you know she is a frugal femme fatale!!

HELP!!

Hopefully some of the rest of you who live in Ohio were up early enough to see the spectacular sunrise this morning.

This photo doesn’t even do it justice.

The colors were magnificent.

If I had time I’d google to get you the physics behind this work of wonder.

Instead I’ll just have forty winks before swinging into action for the week.

Hope this is the shape of things to come.

A very Happy Mother’s Day to my HUMOM and all you Mums out there reading this today !

Strangely it is not Mother’s Day in the UK they already celebrated in the middle of Lent. The origin of Mothering Sunday dates back to Medieval times and the days gone by when kids were sent off at a young age to work in stately homes.

Midway through Lent they were allowed their one day off for the entire year when they returned to their Mother Church and to go see their families and bring a gift of a rich Simnel fruit cake.

I am exceedingly grateful to my HUMOM that i get to spend every day with her and for all the snuggles she gives me even if they are at times a little too much for one so macho as me.

What I most appreciate are the daily trots she takes me on and the occasional spin in her emoji jalopy ARETHA.

Today I plan to be excessively kind to her and enjoy a very fine siesta and promise to be quiet when she’s watching Call the Midwife.

I might even smack her one on the lips
