Ma got the big bird yesterday so it can thaw in the fridge till Thursday.
I am partial to turkey and there are usually a lot of little bits that by some miracle make their way into my bowl. Thanks Dad!!!
Thanks to the lovely grocery store MEIJER they are also very affordable 0.49 cents a pound. Means most families will be able to enjoy provided they have an oven. Alas not always the case!
In the run up to Turkey Day every TV station will be telling us how to roast the perfect bird.
Is it really that hard? Don’t you just put it in a pan and stick it into the oven.
In theory this will be the last day that Ma goes to to work for ten days.
It’s been a while since she’s had such a long time off but she decided that she needed it.
We will of course be busy preparing for the Annual Victorian Christmas. There will be mince pies, shortbread , sausage rolls and who knows what when we bake up a storm.
Maybe if it’s not too cold we might also get a trip to the trails.
For sure there will be a nice nap each afternoon.
I am smiling at the prospect and may even be kind to the kid.
As the saying goes on the vase Auntie Caroline gave Ma during COVID « Always expect something wonderful is about to happen »
Precious Peeps it’s your favorite Pitty Person here to wish you a very happy Friday.
It’s freezing here and we had our first snow. It hurts my poor Pitty paws so I appreciate when we don’t walk far in this.
Short walks mean internal intense interval training is called for.
I start by running upstairs ten times and jumping from the landing to the turn in the stairs.
By this time Grumpy has had enough and starts chasing me round the dining table. This usually takes twenty turns before he gives up for fear of inducing a heart attack.
I partake of some rehydration and maybe a tiny treat if one is available if not I gnaw the Nyla for a few minutes.
After this I’m ready for the master suite. Straight through the double doors a quick bit of Zumba on the bed and then onwards into the bathroom to see if by chance Granny has abandoned her footwear in an accessible area.
Usually I manage to find something and this results in a chase with her to retrieve it.
Trust me troopers this will keep you in shape. Give it a try this weekend and enjoy annoying as many peeps as possible!!!!
So it was at midnight on Wednesday morning that Ma and I were awakened by a strange noise.
For once it wasn’t Casey Jones instead it sounded like one of Elons rockets landing.
Ma went to investigate and found the roar was coming from the Brothers chamber.
I heard her utter the immortal words « what the hell are you doing »
She returned to inform me the Pit had puked all over the bedroom carpet and the Bro felt the need to immediately clean up the mess and was shampooing the carpet.
We all returned to the land of nod shortly thereafter.
Well you know I was right about Sunday we had mega meat and roast potatoes and broccoli salad and it was yum yummy.
Ma was knitting while things were cookin
See Auntie Marsha is having big renovations done at the farm so she is clearing out the closets.
She happened on a sack full of wool that can’t be crocheted. Since she doesn’t knit she grifted it to Ma.
Well this wool is like a walking sheep.
It knits up real fast so Ma took to it.
She finished off a project and was about to start a second when she had a recollection.
I do believe I have a pair of bigger needles deep down in my cupboard.
Sure enough they were resurrected and the tension they gave the material was much better.
So we ripped up the first project and started over.
By this time the dinner was done so we ate and once fortified resumed our endeavors while watching “Endeavor” and wondering why the young Inspector Morse had that name.
I love Sunday because Ma is chilled. She was a tad stressed yesterday as they had another fashion show at the tearoom but this one was at 10:00 am.
Meant we had a microtrot I barely made it to the end of the street but it’s OK you can endure almost anything if your nose knows the next day you’re off.
What I enjoy most about Sunday is guessing what we’re going to eat in the evening. It tends to be a more meaty menu than the middle of the week.
In theory “a roast” should last a little more than a single meal but the Bro has a big appetite and Dad is very generous with the tidbits.
So you can see that I am starting to smile again at the prospect of a lick lipper later.
