Booming Banter

These past two days we’ve done what I recommend all of you to do once in a while. NOTHING!

Of course NOTHING includes going for some good long trots morning and evening but no galloping.

At this time of year it’s a particularly pleasant period for sniffing. There’s so much freshly mown grass round even I was tempted to eat some.

NOTHING for Ma also includes cooking but nothing elaborate something that takes no longer than fifteen minutes to pull together. A one pot wonder! Tasty with plenty of tidbits to keep canines content.

It’s remarkable how well all critters can feel after just 48 hours of this pace.

Do you think as a Presidential contender I need a tailor?

The one who has real estate on 5th Avenue certainly expenses some suiting!

Some swanky Schnauzer set the standard.

Perhaps, given the glory of my fur a hat or a tie would be sufficient.

What color. Red and blue are taken.

Perhaps a good green to underline my Irish heritage.

You cannot underestimate the benefits of a bit of blarney in this business!

Blessing#2039-Styling

You’d think that someone who makes afternoon tea for a crust would give herself a break from it on her day off!

Oh no! Yesterday was the Lily Circle Spring Tea at Church. So off she went.

Now Ma does a decent job at Booming Blessings I wouldn’t turn my nose up at her offering but this was Divine.

So many of the gals involved in the circle are artists and have the patience of saints so to say this was sumptuous would not be an overstatement.

You know what? Not a crumb was brought back for me and the niece. Not a single spot of mini quiche or cake or cookie. I particularly liked the look of those choux pastries delicately filled with chicken salad!!!!!!!

Granny was so stuffed though that she thought she’d better burn a few of the excess edibles she’d ingested and so it was that we sweated for the first time in 2024 as we did the big three mile loop in the scorching sun.

A milestone reach!!!!

Blessing#2038-Annual Events

I love when we have a good sleep and then Ma wakes up before dawn and goes and gets her phone.

I snuggle close with half an eye open while she looks at Facebook and finds things to be jelly about.

People who have flat tummies because they do five minutes of Pilates, people going on vacation AGAIN, people eating fancy dinners ……………….people

It’s then the birds outside in our trees start singing and then we smile and snuggle some more and conclude there aren’t many better things than lying in your own bed doing nothing but listening.

Blessing#2037-Dawn Chorus

You’d think with Ma being from the Emerald Isle she’d be used to rain.

There’s rain and then there’s inundation.

We are all sick of this as we have to dodge the showers or else get soaked and we end up been getting soaked like sponges for days.

The THING looks so weary when she’s wet and when she shakes to dry off I’m scared she’s going to take poor old Ma out.

Her whole 60lb of solid muscle is like a living demolition ball.

I get off side pretty quick but poor old Ma is not that quick on the draw.

There is a glimmer of hope in the foreseeable future but I’m not putting on the sunscreen just yet.

Blessing#2036-Brightening Soon

Precious Peeps it’s Pits Perfect once more to get your weekend off to the best possible start.

I expect many of you have plans for some riotous living. I’d have some of that myself if I was able to escape the confines of the ranch!

Apart from the prospect of pizza the best I can hope for is a quick five rounds with the Grey Gizzard around the dining room table

Dad is going away somewhere for the weekend and Granny and Grandpa are addicted to this new Netflix series called The Resident.

The lead role is played by a dishy dude and his intern is even more handsome.

The one thing that guy needs more than a girlfriend is a Pitty Princess like me.

Oh well I’ll just have to hang in there and hope Dad brings me something tasty as a surprise souvenir from his sojourn.

Blessing#2035-Dropping Hints.

Precious Peeps its Pits Perfect here to thrill you on your Thursday.

What a week we had with inspirational cosmic events but enough of that.

Let’s talk of my beauty.

As you know it’s hard to improve on perfection but sometimes I get jelly of all these peeps who get pampered at spas like the stinking Gizz.

So I would like to get groomed too.

Maybe Granny could paint my nails or give me a deep massage or a sauna.

I’d be sublime and so radiant I could even eclipse the eclipse.

Blessing#2034-Lets Play Pretty

Auntie Marsha and Uncle Jim came over Sunday. They brought gifts including some farm fresh eggs.

We are used to the regular pure white or uniform brown variety but these were ever color you could imagine some even greenish and bluish hues.

They reminded us of those paint palettes you get when choosing the shade you want for your DIY project.

I eyed them with optimism but alas have only had a morsel that fell from Ma’s plate.

They look quite yummy on the inside too all bright and cheerful.

Another natural wonder.

Blessing#2033-Bio-Diversity

We were so very blessed to have perfect conditions for the total eclipse yesterday.

The bro came home early so we were all together albeit for a short spell.

It was a blue sky and warm weather wonder.

The glasses the humans got free from Marion Public Library worked spectacularly (sorry!).

Of course I wasn’t stupid enough to look directly at the sun.

Ma tried to get a photo but she didn’t manage. Thankfully, Uncle Sandy MacHattie triumphed as always with his telephoto lenses and got some perfect pics.

It was such a strange sensation you could feel it getting cooler and cooler and then it got darker.

It didn’t go quite dark as midnight but when it did get like dusk everything went quiet including the birds.

We saw the sun flares so clearly. Imagine the sun as a clock with the moon as its face well at the seven o’clock spot there were burst coming out of the aurora.

It was truly awesome and we just cannot believe what we have learned through this experience.

Perhaps the most amazing fact is that in our solar system Earth is the only planet where sun and moon align to give us this fantastic show. Perhaps the only place in the universe and we saw it!!!!!!!

Blessing#2032-Once in a Lifetime.

We are watching the forecast with bated breath because it’s ECLIPSE DAY!

We have our glasses ready and know exactly where we will stand to watch! Our own back yard.

We debated about driving so we could see the totality for a longer time but we decided two minutes was sufficient and traffic jam free.

We’ll tell you all about it tomorrow.

In the meantime here, from Dad’s super smart peeps CAM magazine that appropriately arrived this morning and kept us occupied, is a fab fact for you to chew on!
