Over the past few days we’ve watched the Netflix series YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

It’s all about comparing the health impact of eating vegan versus an omnivorous. It’s a twin study so one twin goes vegan for eight weeks. They both do a lot of exercise and the bottom line is the vegans loose more visceral fat but they also loose more muscle or build less muscle as the case may be.
It’s run by very reputable scientists who conclude that the vegans had extended telomeres over just eight weeks and that this may be an indicator for improved lifespan.
There’s also a very big push towards the environmental benefits of going vegan.
Now as you know both Ma and Pa worked in the food industry so they have an understanding of these sorts of issues. They know that animal products generate huge environmental footprints in intensive rearing settings but switching for example from cows milk to almond milk is not a sustainable solution. Almonds eat up huge quantities of water and that sooner rather than later water is going to be the big issue
That being said the sight of all those poor chickens and piggies and cows that were shown in this series touched Ma’s heart.
So bottom line I have to prepare the meat loving bro for a shock! At least one or maybe even two nights a week, if Ma can manage to conjure up some tasty dishes, we are going vegan. No milk, cheese, eggs or meat!!!!
Dad has also been informed that next week he’s making soy yogurt rather than our usual whole fat milk.

As for me and the niece we are safe for now kibble is not being culled!
