Auntie Bonnie just posted on Facebook about her new technique to deal with spam callers. She pretends she’s glad to hear from them!!!
Ma has her ways too. If they ask how old she is she usually replies 95. That gets rid of most of them immediately.
Her best tactic though is to say I CANNOT HEAR YOU SPEAK LOUDER!! After the third round of tries they give up.
Of course saying that you have got the wrong number if they ask for you by name is easy particularly if you happen to have a Belfast accent living in Ohio!
I’m sometimes called in to help if she is feeling vicious. She’ll yell DEER which always gets me barking and then put me on speaker phone.
It’s amazing the different area codes these dudes call from and of course for the business Ma has to answer just in case it’s a booking but she now completely refuses to respond to a certain local area code that happens to be her own as ninety nine times out of a hundred it’s spam.
Now here’s a thought for you just imagine yourself as the person making these calls they must get so fed up or are they robots?
Regardless maybe we should just say we are delighted to hear from them as Bonnie suggests.
