It was stinking hot yesterday and we spent close to three hours in the car.
Now ordinarily I’d not object to this as I’m partial to a tootle in ARETHA but yesterday it was the pits in more ways than one.
See there was another open house happening and we had to get out. Ma decided she was going to use the time wisely and get all the shopping she needed.
The Bro was off doing his thing so I had the back seat and Jaws was in the trunk as usual.
First we went to Kroger where Ma got a mountain of soda and beer and other beverages and two giant bottles of laundry detergent because there was a BOGO offer on.
She piled all this in around me because she figured the PIT might puncture something and might either get caffeinated, drunk or very very clean on the inside.
Next we went to the India grocers again because the Bro ate all the frozen Naan breads we’d got the week before. Ma got more of that as well as more of the spicy snacks she and Dad devour and some veggies.
Of course this too was stuffed in beside me and I became super well insulated.
Finally she hit Aldi. In she went and seriously I thought she’d never return.
During all these stops Dad had to stay with us because you aren’t allowed to leave pets unattended in cars when it’s hot in case they suffocate. So instead you leave them with an ancient Indian with the windows open who also might succumb!
When she did arrive her two giant shopping bags were overflowing plus she bought a 24 pack of toilet rolls that takes up more space than me.
By the time she shoved it all in I hardly had room to breath let alone move.
When we got home the realtors were still there so we had to circle a little till they moved out.
A loaf of sandwich bread suffered at this point as I stood up only to have to sit down again and I squashed it. Bread pudding anyone?
Just as we entered the garage the Bro arrived by some miracle to help us unload and then he took me and his daughter for a stretch.
Man that walk even though we were tethered together was one of the sweetest I’ve ever known.
I filled my lungs with purity.
