You would think that if you were about to traverse the Atlantic you’d be keen to pack in as much sleep as possible in preparation.

No way!

My Sunday siesta was abruptly cut short when Ma started watching the Masters live from Augusta.

She, along with every other Northern Irish person not to mention a gazillion others like myself who claim Irish origin were roaring for Rory.

Oh my those first holes were hard to watch!

There are only so many cookies you can crunch to keep the nerves at bay especially those that contain no milk, egg, chocolate or other lubricants.

So slowly we migrated to the peanuts after all this was streaming live from Georgia. Later in the day she was driven to drink and took to the beer.

The screaming from Ma was nothing short of scary especially at the 11th and then the terror of the 13th! Could it be La Vie en ROSE but Rory turned around at the 15th!

Finally after the birdie by Rose at the 18th and the playoff Rory brought it home and with it a whole new meaning to “the wearing of the GREEN”!!!

Ma is starting to prepare me mentally for her extended absence.

She is going to Ireland on Monday and leaving me to take care of Dad, the Bro and the Niece.

There is only so much one dog can handle.

I may be unable to issue daily epistles in view of my enhanced work schedule but I’ll try my best to not disappoint you.

Just know that I’m always thinking of you and hoping you are doing the same for me.

I will suffer in silence and do my best not to nuke the niece and yes that is a tear in my eye!

Yesterday was National Pet day so Mom spoiled me by taking me with her to the new ranch and then to work.

We left at dawn as the water people said they could arrive anytime after 8:00 am.

I had to stay in the car apart from a few business sorties but it was lovely being with my Mom all day without having the naughty niece around.

Ma thought it best to leave her at home lest we took to fighting in the car while imprisoned.

We discovered to our delight that the dumpster had already been delivered for the rip out of the stinky carpets and bathrooms.

That work should start sometime next week.

I got to wander a little around the yard and found it to be filled with fantastic flora.

I’ve made my mark in multiple places so any neighborhood coyote understands that a new head honcho has taken over this establishment!

I’ll be giving you regular updates as work progresses. For now I’m happy to report I’m feeling at home.

Precious Peeps it’s PITS. I’m here to propel you into a wonderful weekend.

I see this as part of my life’s mission to render the rundown runts in each litter into robust rebels with a cause.

Bet you didn’t know I was so well read!

I’m doing my best in this season of stumbling stocks to bring smiles to ever face.

Sort of like the transformation that is starting at the new ranch.

Granny is off there at 7:00 this morning as the water is finally being switched on except it’s not really as it’s turned off at the mains since there is a burst pipe in the bathroom.

There may be other leaks that aren’t so obvious so even though we will have a supply at the street level we must wait till the plumber is there to check the full system and he is busy till Tuesday.

Now if this didn’t make you feel better I don’t know what will. No one can possibly beat that bubble of trouble!

Can there be any crazier person than Granny willing to take on such a challenge.

That’s where I get my guts from.

Be like me keep pushing ahead like a Pitty.

This just won’t do!

I’m meant to be the treasure of retirees!

Alas no! Ma and Pa left home at 8:45 yesterday morning and returned at 4:30.

Fortunately the Bro started work at 11:00 so he let me out for a pee at 10:30.

It’s such a strain being in charge of the house and the niece for this amount of time.

She senses my anxiety too so she plays up.

Chewed up another one of the Bro’s pillows.

I kept us safe from all threats of invasion but I’m just exhausted!

I plan to sleep all day today once I get the trash out, have a long trot, see Ms off to the tearoom and eat lunch with Dad.

Precious Peeps it’s your Pretty Pitty here to help you over the humpty once more.

Granny and Grandpa are going to meet one of the contractors this morning to see if they can finalize the plans for the rip out of the stinky carpet at the RANCH.

Once that is done me and the Gizz may be allowed indoors. Until it’s gone Granny fears that our hyper sensitive snouts may be so overcome by the stench that veterinary bills could be incurred.

I keep telling Granny to chill that we are tougher than she thinks.

After all don’t I share a bedroom with my Dad?

Sometimes I’m misunderstood though so I’ll say no more.

Just hope for harmony and a home that hums with happiness.

Ma made a discovery yesterday.

She did something she’s never done before.

She stir fried cucumber.

Surprisingly it stayed super crunchy and even when the tomatoes and mushroom were soft and mushy the green gourd was crisp.

Now let me clarify that this particular little veggie had been dressed as a salad, soaked in balsamic vinegar dressing for a day but remained uneaten.

Could that be the reason for its remarkable performance?

Regardless, I got none of it as Ma amplified the heat of the moment with a monstrous amount of chili.

In the midst of managing the money there are unexpected and uplifting rewards at the RANCH that were sown years earlier.

Ignoring the stock market and even the quotes for the rehab of the house I’m focused this morning on the little joys you see that one day are buried and the next alive.

So it was that Ma was delighted to discover that one of her favorite plants, the hosta, is present in abundance at the front of the RANCH.

She has planted them here many times but the deer eat them as dessert.

She is optimistic that these are more secure as so far not a single Bambi has been spotted.

Ma has stopped talking.

See the estimates are coming in so she is doing sums all the time.

She keeps frowning which is not becoming to one so wrinkled.

It makes her look very frightening.

The niece keeps staring her in the eye as I fear she thinks she’s done something wrong.

I’m trying to reassure her it’s just a passing phase! See I can be kind to my kin sometimes!

Poor old Bro who got in at 2:00am was awakened at 7:00 to print something Ma couldn’t do herself.

I do secretly fear for the sanity of the family.

Please let her get some good news soon.

I may build an ark soon and sail off down the Olentangy into the Scioto and onwards into the Ohio River.

These rains are once in a generation according to Al Roker.

It doesn’t do a great deal for my hairdo either but of course I’m not at all vain.

The naughty niece may die soon of the shaking sickness.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

I could be the one and only once again and totally rule the roost at the new ranch.

Maybe these storms aren’t so stinking after all!!
