Wagging Tail-1670

You may recall that several years ago our house was struck by lightening. The major impact was the need for a new roof. Several electronics got fried like the TV downstairs.

We discovered sometime later that the DVD player upstairs had been nuked too and wouldn’t open but the TV of course was fine.

Work that out ye who have a brain cell.

Fast forward dear folks to yesterday. Ma was hankering for some Sound of Music so she beseeched the Bro to see if the DVD downstairs attached to the dead TV might by some Christmas miracle be OK.

That being the case (hallelujah chorus!!!) the downstairs DVD was brought upstairs and after much jiggery pokery that only young males are capable of was united to the functioning TV.

Having allowed Julie Andrew’s to emerge over the hill and spin around just once the Bro quickly switched to the Vicar of Dibley.

Ma did not moan as she likes that too and is secretly elated that all her old Christmas box sets will now be available once more for festive viewing.

She wondered though why it took her years to get the job done!!!

Ma and Jaws and me put the tree up while the Bro and Dad went to get the shopping.

We’d run out of dog food and soda and believe it or not BACON!!!

When we tested the lights we discovered all the outside ones were dead.

So Dad and the Bro were placed on a mercy mission to find new ones.

Ma gave them a fixed budget that they adhered to.

They bought exactly what she wanted so she was all happy happy and full of festive good cheer.

It’s amazing the impact of simple things!!

Well I am properly tired of Ma being home all the time so yesterday I sent her to THE MALL fortified with a big turkey sandwich for brekkie.

Along with about a million others she went to Macys.

She bought nothing just squirted on her favorite HAPPY perfume at the Clinique counter to make the expedition worth while.

She said even with LAST ACT 75% off things seemed expensive. So she went to Marshall’s instead where again she would not succumb.

She has gotten to be so tight. Thrift store shopping has squeezed all the spending spirit out of her.

She came back hungry though so needed another turkey sandwich to refuel.

I enjoyed my rest home alone with Dad very much.

Precious Peeps it’s your one and only Perfect Pitty here to whisk you into a wonderful weekend.

I trust you followed my example yesterday and stuffed your little tummies to bursting point.

I was hoping for a leg of that sizzling bird but Granny said I might choke on the bones so I was given breast only.

Truth be told it was because she is partial to those bits. She ate both wings followed by a leg a little later.

No wonder she resembles a pudding.

I am nonetheless eternally grateful to her that she hovered over the stove most of the afternoon in between ooh and ahhing over those dogs at the show.

The pug won.

We weren’t voting for it and there wasn’t a Pitty in sight. Of course there was nothing roughly resembling the stinking Gizzard as he is a mutt

So dear ones have fun today. Trot off a little turkey if you can and build up some stamina for sandwiches later.

I’m off now to have a good sniff at granny’s hair as she hasn’t washed it since cooking and smells very tasty.

The turkey is still in the fridge as we’re having our dinner in the evening.

Ma and me likes to watch the Macys parade and the national dog show that follows it.

We guess who is going to be the winner and we do things during commercial breaks like peeling the veg and making the stuffing.

We have already got to thinking of all the things we can make with the leftovers.

Does anyone else think they are the best bit.

I especially like the sandwiches because they tend to be chunky enough for bits to go south.

We saw this just now and it gave us another idea. What true for a chicken must be true for a turkey too.

Precious Peeps it’s your very own Pretty Pitty here to help you over the hump.

It’s not such a big one this week as Thursday is thanksgiving so we’re off then so technically it feels like Friday today.

It’s especially good as Granny decided to not open the tearoom this week so we are having fun with her at home.

We were experimenting again yesterday making sausage rolls from scratch.

They looked a total mess but they tasted great. That means we have to try again until we perfect the art.

We watched some of Mary Berry’s Christmas programs on Netflix just in case she made some and had “how to make them pretty” tips but she didn’t so we’ll just have to keep trying.

Dad is happy as they are one of his favorite foods. Always knew my father was a man of excellent taste after all he pick me didn’t he!

We also made ketchup that tasted and looked more like chutney but don’t tell Granny I said that!

I’ll encourage the old gal some more today and see what she comes up with.

Yesterday we did an experiment.

We made mini bread puddings. Finger food!

They taste good but we need to work on appearance for Victorian Christmas.

There were originally two layers of them put the Bro made a stop at the fridge each time he passed it.

Since they are tiny he had to have two or three at a time to make it worth chewing.

I am particularly partial to early morning

It’s the time when I lie on my back with my legs in the air and do my banter.

See when you are totally relaxed the creative juices flow so freely.

Today it occurred to me that y’all need to know this.

If you are ever feeling mad or sad or even bad just lie down on a soft surface and elevate your limbs.

Open your mouth like you are dead and then chill like that for fifteen minutes.

Once you are good and ready, just like a spatchcock turkey, roll over and shake it all off.

You’ll be good to go after sitting still for another fifteen minutes and will be in good form for at least the next six hours.

Ma got the big bird yesterday so it can thaw in the fridge till Thursday.

I am partial to turkey and there are usually a lot of little bits that by some miracle make their way into my bowl. Thanks Dad!!!

Thanks to the lovely grocery store MEIJER they are also very affordable 0.49 cents a pound. Means most families will be able to enjoy provided they have an oven. Alas not always the case!

In the run up to Turkey Day every TV station will be telling us how to roast the perfect bird.

Is it really that hard? Don’t you just put it in a pan and stick it into the oven.

Sometimes humans complicate things too much.

They have a lot to learn from us canines.

Just do it!!

In theory this will be the last day that Ma goes to to work for ten days.

It’s been a while since she’s had such a long time off but she decided that she needed it.

We will of course be busy preparing for the Annual Victorian Christmas. There will be mince pies, shortbread , sausage rolls and who knows what when we bake up a storm.

Maybe if it’s not too cold we might also get a trip to the trails.

For sure there will be a nice nap each afternoon.

I am smiling at the prospect and may even be kind to the kid.

As the saying goes on the vase Auntie Caroline gave Ma during COVID « Always expect something wonderful is about to happen »
