Wagging Tail-2035

Thanks to the Bro we now have Brit Box so Ma has an endless stream of shows from the good old BBC.

Yesterday we were “subjected” to yet another Carol service. This one was a bit different though. It was put together by no less than HRH The Princess of Wales.

This now annual event called Together At Christmas brings celebrities and citizens who have made a special impact in the kingdom to sing in the splendor of Westminster Abby.

It was so lovely that Ma had a little tear running down her cheek.

Made us very thankful that this beautiful Princess is so kind and thoughtful and also that she is surrounded by so many people who love her.

It’s real spooky in our new bedroom when there’s a gale howling like it is right now.

See the branches of the very big trees in our yard swing around a lot and even if you turn your head away from the window their image is reflected on the closet doors.

It makes it feel like we’re babes lost in the woods. The trees become giant monsters from another world.

I had to get very close to Ma for comfort.

It made us think about how often trees and storms and woods and winds feature in literature.

Maybe other people felt the force and captured it in their stories.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that there is nothing to beat a Sunday morning snuggle with your hooman in a big soft bed.

Ma and I were reflecting just now on this fact and that we love each other very much. She told me that just before she woke up she’d had a dream about scolding me because I was being nasty to the niece.

“NEVER”!

Do you know I was sequestered with that piece of PIT for seven hours yesterday inside Aretha while Ma cleaned out the kitchen cupboards at the old house. I completely ignored her.

Ma had to take us with her as we left home at 6:15 so we hadn’t time to trot before departure. She did take us for a mile walk in our old neighborhood once dawn broke.

Thereafter we were parked in the garage while she worked. I have it on good authority that she threw away enough takeaway plastic knives and forks to fuel a KFC for a year.

Every single one from the fast food they’d enjoyed over a fifteen year period had found its way into a drawer or cupboard.

It would seem Dad planned to use them for picnics! Ma says that henceforth if she see one she’ll have a fit.

Today the Bro and Ma are heading back to squeeze as many of the remaining pots and pans into the car before hitting the pantry. Ma already jettisoned some items that were let’s put it mildly “aged” and I don’t mean good cheddar!

The niece and I will remain with Dad to give Aretha maximum capacity to convey.

For now though I intend to snuggle some more and reflect on the essentials of life that are best described as warm and cuddly.

The alarm just went and the powers at be chose a good old Van Morrison song to wake us up.

I must be swift as the secretary needs go wash and caffeinate before we all leave Dad and head off to the old homestead.

We have decided to focus on the kitchen today as we have plenty if time. We are going to bring as much as possible so we can do normal cooking once more.

Yesterday our scope with leftovers was limited as we had no spice to make curry nor pasta to make bake.

If all goes to plan we will be cooking with gas metaphorically tonight as we’re all electric here.

There again we might have sandwiches if Ma is exhausted you just can’t beat a good turkey and ham!

Have fun fans!

Precious Peeps it’s Pits here to wing you into a wonderful weekend.

Did you have a good Christmas. I enjoyed lots of time with Dad as he was off work.

We went for a good trot in the morning exploring another part of our new neighborhood. It’s very different from where we lived before. The houses are much smaller but there’s still plenty if trees to pee on.

When we got back we watched A CHRISTMAS CAROL it’s a bit scary so I got up on the couch beside Grandpa to be sure I was safe.

Granny cooked for hours and then ate a huge lunch and fell asleep. I thought she was never going to wake up. She must really need some catch up.

This mornings Dad left at 6:15 as he’s on the early shift so I’m waiting for the old gal and the Gizz to get up so I can get out and get going.

I hope you have fun plans for the weekend. We are tackling book mountain. As it’s as high as Everest I don’t anticipate we will squeeze in much more but Granny has promised she’ll take me and the Gizz with her tomorrow to pack up more tomes at the old house.

Dad has promised me that Granny wouldn’t mind one bit if I shredded a few but Grandpa might get mad and he comes in handy when there are spooky Scrooges around.

We just had the best sleep we’ve had in ages.

Everyone else is up except us. Must have been all the singing we did last night!!!!

We can hear the others but we’re tightly snuggled up and I have to get my secretary to get this banter out before we move a muscle.

I trust that all of you are equally well rested and ready for some riotous rituals.

I’m not short on sentiment as some would suggest. There is nothing grumpy about this Gizz!

Have a wonderful Christmas and be sure to get the Carols up loud so you can howl away like the heavenly throng.

Precious Peeps it’s me the PERFECT one here to heave you over this extra special humpty.

We are up VERY early as Granny wants a little peace before she climbs clothes mountain 2.0.

Once we have cleared the path to the kitchen we are going to make coffee and take a trot and then tackle the trifle and mince pies.

We have so much food in the fridge that I feel even my bottomless PIT (sorry!) might be filled.

Tonight we are having shrimp followed by sausage rolls as they are Dad’s favorite yum yum. It’s an odd combo meal but trust me it will all slip down nicely.

Do you love Christmas Eve as much as me? I always get so excited. It’s all the buzz and smells and snacks and SANTA.

Do you track his progress? He is so smart and so fast and so secretive. I’d love to meet him and give him a great big lick but I guess I’ll just have to settle for a smacker with Dad when he gets in from the night shift.

Well must DASH now like a reindeer and run run like RUDOLF to get all this work done.

Y’all have fun today and I’ll talk to you on festive Friday.

Love PITS!

You will not believe this but after weeks we got a decent walk. The Bro came along as Ma was a bit concerned we might misbehave in our new neighborhood. We didn’t!

When we came back Ma and the Bro went for another haul from the old house and then the unpacking and putting away began on their return.

So it was with excessive joy that when Ma looked at the clock and found it was only 2:30 and all was done and dusted and wait for it WE COULD HAVE A NAP!!!

We could have made another trip back to the old house and worked some more but we just didn’t.

When we got up two hours later we watched clips from the final of Strictly Come Dancing and then the new animated version of THE GRINCH.

We hadn’t seen it before. Man it is so good. I love that dog.

It’s so Christmasy. I am happy again.!

Ma made two trips to the old house yesterday. I got to go with on the second as her sanity was slipping and she needed my very best TLC.

Dad’s closet is now officially empty and one third of Ma’s made its way to the bedroom floor of the new ranch.

As she was exhausted and had to make real food dinner as there is only so much take away a human can eat the clothes mountain remained untouched and we climbed over it to get to bed.

So when we had our usual nocturnal awakening Ma said “to pot with this Scoob I’m not lying hear listening to Casey tooting I’m going to get these clothes put always”

I did not move just I case she’d put me on a hanger and arrange me with the grey sweaters.

Triumphantly some ninety minutes later she got the job done and climbed back into bed.

Now this is why we then slept like logs till six.
