It’s looking like it will be a lady, the current VP, that I’ll be up against but who knows.
What I want to say though is that my heart hurts for President Biden.
Not just because of his Irish heritage, like my own, but because he worked so hard for so long and then it felt like the carpet was pulled from under his feet.
Well you know I thought the IT issue had no impact on us, well it did.
Ma was meant to go to the prison for the day on Saturday for a “retreat” but it was canceled due to the glitch.
Since she’d taken no bookings at the tearoom, in view of her anticipated absence, she decided to follow through on that part of the plan and stay home.
We stayed in bed till 7:00. Very late for us and then took a good trot with the niece before returning to watch the golf from Scotland.
We were just in time to see the hole in one of Si Woo Kim. AMAZING I was awestruck!
The parents then went off to get the groceries and I guarded the homestead.
We then made scones for the week. Usually this is done on Monday but since Ma was off on Saturday she had taken a booking for Monday to make up for lost revenue. All very convoluted.
If you’re wondering how they stay fresh fear not dear followers we freeze them!
It was then time to get some more sleep and pretend it was Sunday.
All in all an unexpected sabbath of sorts and an unexpected two day weekend after all.
We were all OK but imagine if you were heading off on vacation and got stuck. Or worse, imagine you had to get medical treatment and it wasn’t available!!!!!
Makes you think about how dependent we all are on computers.
Just reflect on days , not so long gone by according to Ma, when we didn’t have computers. I’d have to write a book so you could read my ramblings.
Of course that wouldn’t help you on a daily basis with my words of wisdom unless of course I got coverage in a national newspaper.
How did Presidents manage in the past to issue executive orders?
Maybe I’ll have that method as a contingency just to show I’m on top of even the worst eventualities.
My head is heavy with all this pondering I must go and shake it off and chase the niece.
Ma is always looking for novel things for the tearoom.
When she happened on this she said she could taste the tea.
Memories came flooding back of days at the seaside with tomato sandwiches that got warmed up during the trip to the beach and tea that had stewed for an hour or two from a flask.
It’s funny how just something as simple as this can evoke such emotions.
There is truth for sure that the sense of smell is powerful in making us feel happy.
If you’ve ever got a down day just sniff a MILK BONE! Trust me you’ll be back in shape in seconds!!
We all enjoyed the tennis although we’d have liked five sets.
An advantage of having a tearoom is you often get leftover strawberries and cream of a Sunday and so it was that we like those present at Wimbledon tucked into the treat.
I took care of the BEAST who eventually succumbed to slumber.
Having seen Carlos raise the Cup from the hands of the PoW Ma and I took a siesta too like all good Spaniards would.
We were all set for the kickoff of the footie at three but so were the storms.
They rolled in just in time to give us a power cut after the Spanish goal but we were restored to see England equalize.
Great to see all the royals cheering Princes William and George and of course The King of Spain and Infanta Sophia.
In the end it was a great game and Spain were triumphant.
We did have our Tadoori chicken even though we didn’t run to extra time.
Ma had to go to work so she missed the drama on center court yesterday at the women’s final.
Dad and I watched and Ma was able to follow live but all she had was the score. It was a nail biter. Ma said it was just as dramatic as watching but of course she subjected me to a rerun when she came home!!! Tears with the speeches of course.
The THING had been confined to her chambers when the bro left for work so Dad and I had peace.
Now the big news is out that the Princess of Wales is going to the men’s finals Ma is debating whether to go to church or not today. Dad has decided he’s staying home.
The Prince of Wales is going to the footie so it will be a right Royal show from dawn till dusk.
We have to think of what to eat. We’re leaning towards the most popular dish in the UK Tandoori Chicken with Naan bread.
We can have it and watch if the footie runs into extra time.
