Booming Banter

Yesterday Ma got the Bro to take down all the Christmas decor while she and Dad went to church and then got the groceries.

He did a real good job under my supervision of course and the niece stayed out of the way and chewed her Nyla as told her I nuke her if she didn’t.

Ma was so inspired by the clean up that she took to and put up the Chinese New Year gear as a quid pro quo.

All done before 1:00pm so after lunch a good siesta was warranted for all.

Dinner done we all watched the movie Pride and Prejudice again. It’s the version with Kiera Knightly as Elizabeth. Don’t ask who was Darcy but it wasn’t Colin Firth.

This time Ma said she really enjoyed it. Previously she hadn’t been hot on it as Colin was absent but upon reflection she concluded that ambience changes everything.

Blessing#2279-Reruns

Yesterday on our trot we saw something sad.

A perfect little red squirrel was lying in the middle of the road dead as a dodo.

It had its tiny eyes closed and looked just like it was sleeping. It was clearly not long gone as it was completely in tact.

The niece tried to get hold of it but Ma was firm and decided that if it was still in one piece on our return she’d give it a decent place to rest.

So good to her word Ma braced herself restrained the niece and grabbed the critter by its tail and placed it in the nearest yard.

We could have carried it home to ours but world war three may have ensued as to who owned it and Ma could certainly not have held it and us without shoulder dislocation.

Ironic then that when we got back in President Carters last journey was just beginning.

We know that he, like that squirrel has his eyes closed and is peacefully back with his maker.

Blessing#2278-At Rest

Ma isn’t hard to please.

Yesterday she was all thrilled because she realized on her way to work that the sat nav didn’t just say “work” for her destination but by some miracle switched to Booming Blessings.

This means her little business is pinned in Google maps with a fine big teapot symbol.

It was like she won the lottery.

I suppose if some tea lovers just happen to be passing by Marion Ohio it might entice them to stop in.

I just said that I wouldn’t mind a little trip there myself but she said it’s too cold for me to sit in the car for long.

Did she ever realize I’m her service dog she could bring me inside to keep her calm and warm!

Blessing#2277-Markers

Precious Peeps it’s your very own perfectly pretty Pitty here to give you a great big woof into the first weekend of the year.

Maybe you are on a health kick like granny or going green or something equally noble.

Since I cannot be improved upon I’m just being my usual wonderful self.

It makes life so much easier to live when everything you do is done with the utmost elegance.

Be like me or at least a little bit of a PIT!!

Blessing#2276-Poise

Well inevitably a New Year means a new get fit campaign for Ma.

We started well with porridge to which an apple was added as we are eating more fruits and veggies. Tick one!

We met Auntie Denise and then hooked up with my buddy Remy and his Mom and did double duty on our walk taking in the big and small loops. Tick two.

Inspired by a comment made by Auntie Denise Ma downed a large glass of still water. Tick three.

She then selected three paperback novels to sit in a strategic position to encourage reading. It’s good for the aging brain! Tick four

We then all took off for the Chinese grocery store. Full family outing! We stocked up on dumplings, spicy sauces and exotic veggies. I’m not sure how the dumplings fit in the fitness equation but heh ho. Tick five.

Ma made stir fried pea shoots and tofu for lunch. More fiber! Tick six! Not for me I’ll stick to grass.

Had a siesta! Essential part of the Mediterranean model! Tick seven

Did some reading rather than facebooking. Tick eight.

Made spring rolls from scratch as appetizers. More fiber. Did the dumplings and scoffed them too. Tick nine

Watched the football. Sport is fun and we all need that and especially good OSU had a big win. Tick ten

Watched some of the New Year concert from Vienna just to include a little culture. Tick eleven

Restricted ETOH consumption to two light beers. Tick twelve

Blessing#2275-Dirty Dozen Resolutions

Precious Peeps it’s your very own PRINCESS here to project you not just over the humpty but right slap bang into 2025.

We should now look forward and not back but I must say last year saw me gnaw nicely through some seriously gnarly Nylas and I’m proud of my accomplishments.

Moving forward with the confidence only a Pitty possesses let me assure you my teeth are in great shape.

Sharpened, strong and shining like the star I am and ready to be ruthless with any stinking Gizz or obstacle that crosses my path.

Look out nastiness I’m nuking you now!

There, and as a final force to be reckoned with a word from my Granny “wrap your heads around this fact; it’s a quarter century since the millennium!!!”

Blessing#2274-New Beginning

When you wake up in the middle of the night and a word comes into your head and you’re not sure what it means you banter about it.

First you have to Google it to get the gist and when you do and you find that it is a word that can have polar opposite meaning you feel reassured that your uncertainty was justified.

So dear reader as we end the year you may choose the type of year you had but use the same word and no one will really know.

Except that it originates from the Latin and has something to do with sheep. Baba 2024!

Blessing#2273-Out of the Herd

Well I know some of you already know but for those of you who have not heard there was water in the bucket.

My heart sank when Ma told me and I could see from her face that her own little heart had shrunk to the size of the Grinch’s.

To put it mildly the old gal was sad.

Now let me set the context. In the past day it had rained as heavy as when Noah resorted to boat building.

Even with this there was only about two inches of water in the bucket and the surrounding towels were all dry.

The drips were slow and small but steady so you are all now requested to pray that the current situation is due to damaged internal caulking brought about by the previous issue.

A call will be made as soon as possible to see if this can be put to rights.

All hands on deck please 🙏

Blessing#2272-Last Resorts

The big window at the business started leaking really bad so a bucket had to be hidden in a bed of towels in the middle of the beautiful holiday display Auntie Paula had put up.

The people who installed it inspected the problem and promised a free fix which was very kind of them and much appreciated but to do this they had to order a special piece of metal.

It hadn’t arrived by December 21 when the gals closed for the holidays.

When Ma went in on Friday a miracle had occurred. There was no water in the bucket yet it had rained a lot over Christmas.

She called the company and sure enough they had fixed it from the outside.

On Friday evening it poured again and yesterday Ma was holding her breath when she went in.

Not a drop of water to be seen.

Ma is still anxious so she and Dad are heading up to check today since it is once again tipping it out of the heavens.

Pray please that it’s holding up.

Blessing#2271-Faithful Fixings

Just one more weekend left this year.

It’s hard to believe that so many days have passed.

Maybe it’s because I have spent more time sleeping this year than ever before.

You know I have to follow the example set by Ma and she is getting worse and worse.

Can’t keep her peepers open past nine yet she’s wide awake at five in the morning.

I’m trying to persuade her she has to break this rhythm and stay up half an hour later each evening until she reaches midnight.

She says it must be a hundred years since she stayed up that late.

Even I wasn’t around that long ago!!
