It would seem that my Granny was a lover of green. So much so that it is not one of my Moms favorite colors as she was often dressed in it at an early age and the walls and carpets of the homestead were also adored with said color.

Well all this to inform you that experiments were done yesterday at the tearoom to try to find the right hue for the Gala this weekend.

A certain seasonal gentleman who is partial to it too will be making a “surprise” appearance.

The color is stable in both a cold acidic medium (lemonade) and in a hot neutral (mint tea). That’s Mother’s food science rubbing off on me!!!!

For once I feel fortunate not to sample. It looks quite horrific but I see the same approach may be put to use for Saint Patrick too!!!!

Ma and Dad are going for blood letting this morning for their annual physicals.

It’s good to get this done before the end of the year so you can start afresh in January with one box ticked.

It means Ma doesn’t get coffee this morning or OJ or brekkie just hot water so she’s not exactly singing.

We only get a short trot too as she wants to be at the top of the line for the vampire.

The upside is they usually stop and get donuts on the way back so I’m looking forward to that.

In the meantime I’m taking care of the niece and playing doctors and nurses.

I’ve told her she is very sick and must rest. It’s a fib but it gives me peace

I am well known as an intellectual of some standing and am destined for the summit of public office in the near future.

Cousin Krishna obviously understands me well yet the chart he sent me this morning is clearly destined not for me but for Dad.

See books I find a little heavy.

Give me CNN instead.

Now if this same chart said snacks instead of books it absolutely would cause me to stir and would be entirely appropriate for selection of my Christmas gift.

I’m just putting this in print lest there be any cause for confusion for the big bearded one in Red.

While we are at it Ma says substitute scented candle for book and she’ll be all set too!

It’s all very well that the Bro goes off to see the footie and absolutely great that The Columbus Crew are National Champions but…..

Who has to take care of the demonic presence.

It’s a tough job keeping her under control.

When there is a big cheer on the TV she thinks it’s for her and takes off on a victory lap around the dining room at lightening speed!

This cause no end of shouting from Dad and then poor Ma has to intervene to stabilize the situation until the next round of running repeats!

Fortunately I have forgiven the Bro as he was home all day yesterday to lift the burden and give me a break.

I’m not as young as I used to be so I really can’t hack this hound around all the time!

Precious Peeps it’s Pits Perfect here with a little pit of Philosophy!

When you have been very busy working yourself into a tizzy hoping everything goes OK for an event how do you feel when it’s over?

See I am learning from supporting and observing Granny that the best bit about putting the effort in is the prospect of having a day off when it’s all over.

She may not know it but she is my mentor. I look up to her for clues on cultivating feminine charms.

Dad on the other hand is my hero on what it means to be a winner. He shows me that enthusiasm has no bounds when it comes to seeing you team take home the big one.

It may have cost him more than Ma would make in a month of Victorian Christmases but being at that stadium last night is something never to be forgotten.

All in all today is a day to celebrate!

One of Mums friends posted this little poem this morning.

There is a lot of truth in this but there is another option according to Ma.

That is to seek out a canine.

Ideally go to your local rescue and find someone like me.

I’ll keep you warm on a cold night and I listen to everything and I don’t argue and I “gently encourage” you to take exercise every day and I never huff or puff.

I think Ma may be turning into a very famous Christmas critter

Do you have a clock that is fast that you don’t fix because it makes you feel good to know it’s not really as late as you think it is? We do. It’s the one in our bedroom.

So each morning when we wake up and look at it we know we have ten minutes more to live than it would appear.

This is particularly important to us as in those ten minutes we Banter to you.

So it was this morning.

Before Bantering we always have a quick look at messages and WhatsApp just in case a near and dear has been in touch. They take priority over the daily post!

This morning WhatsApp said it needed an update so we hit the button.

It took a whole three minutes to install which put us on edge as we couldn’t do a thing and so are now just seven minutes ahead of real time. Stress out!!

HOWEVER, when we did the update and opened up what did we see but a very appropriate message from cousin Krishna that made our day and gave us the subject of our reflection.

Trash Day! It’s always a race against the clock. Our goal is to have everything at the kerb and be back to hear the start of the news at 7:00am.

To achieve this goal there is a particular process to follow. Exit the bedroom before 6:45. Put the coffee on, put the toast on, drink juice, take out the two recycling bins, change the bag in the trash can, put the coffee filter and breakfast banana skin in the trash, take the trash to the kerb. Get me my brekkie, pour coffee and take it and toast to TV.

Today we missed by eight minutes. EIGHT minutes.

That gets us in a bad mood. Either we are slowing down big time or the FORCE is not with us.

Either way it is a depressing prospect.

Until you realize when you do sit down and tune in is that all you missed was coverage of the debate which is of course a useless item since we all know who is going to win the election.

Me!
