Wagging Tail-1999

We had another outing yesterday as a family as there were two more viewings at our house.

First the hoomans went to Bob Evan’s and ate brunch. The niece and me stayed quietly in the car hoping they’d bring us a morsel.

Not a single scrap but I know Ma had bacon because I could smell it. I can also tell you Dad had no meat but the bro’s burger must have been made with half a cow. I nose you know.

Next up we went to Meijer to get the Thanksgiving turkey. In fact we got two because they were such good value. Can you believe 39 cents a pound! One is now in the fridge thawing for Thursday and the other is in the freezer waiting for Santa.

Bacon was on offer in a BOGOF and Ma had a coupon for that and for sausage and for milk so the car took on the additional weight of another medium sized dog.

With time still to kill and no parsnips to be had at Meijer we made a trip to Trader Joe’s. Truth be told Ma needed to stock up on her fizz that she drinks like lemonade. We got that and the parsnips but it took FOREVER. Half the population of Columbus must have been shopping at TJs.

The bro was sweating a bit because he had work so when Ma eventually emerged with her haul we took off swiftly with not a centimeter to spare in our car.

We reached home just in time to unload and dispatch the Bro to his job.

The rest of us then put all our purchases and signs of life safely away and swung into a siesta.

Soup was served for dinner as we had a lot of it in the freezer and needed to get something out so we could squeeze the bird in.

On reflection I’m so glad I’m a dog and not a turkey.

Ma was super busy at the tearoom yesterday so the thing that I have been keen to examine is the state of her thumb.

Turns out it is just fine like a twenty year olds so that nukes the theory she had a repetitive stress issue in the joint.

Of course I’m glad to know this as pouring tea pays for my MILK BONES.

This insight also points the finger on the thumb more directly at me as the hound held mostly on the right side when trotting.

If there is a reoccurrence I might be called into the dock.

In the meantime I will tug less, munch some more and lie low!

Yesterday was weird.

We went for our usual trot but then strange things started happening.

The Bro came home from the night shift and took out the vacuum cleaner.

Dad then started cleaning the counters and Ma swept the path to the front door.

Ma then got ready and took off to work.

The Bro went to sleep on the sofa for a while and then things got really bizarre.

Auntie Denise came and took Dad away in her car to her house and left us with the Bro.

Shortly thereafter he put on his coat and our leashes and took our water bowls and us for the longest walk we’ve ever had with him or any other human We went all the way to the Adventure Park in the center of our town. It’s a five mile round trip!!!!

Why why why was this happening. We started to panic.

When we came back we were exhausted and hungry so had to have a huge dinner!

We were relieved to be home for a while we thought we might have been expedited and demanded an explanation.

Can you guess why?

Precious Peeps it’s PITS here and as you know I’m PERFECT as always.

My nose was a little out of joint though as Granny brought another woman into our kennel.

It was a GIANT teddy girl that had been Dad’s as a kid and was currently residing in our garage.

She dressed it up in a tutu and took it to the shop.

The theme this year for the Christmas decor of the town is The Nutcracker so Granny is taking the position that The Nutcracker is nothing without his gal.

It’s kinda like me a Dad.

Anyway since the cuddly critter is now ensconced in her tearoom I’m friends with her again.

Be like me. Don’t bear grudges against Grannies they are often crazy but generally generous with goodies.

Love you all and have a wonderful weekend.

P.S. Heater fixed at the apartment it was just a fuse so won’t break the bank!

Our hump day started off with a beep.

One of the smoke alarms was chirping. Now when it is before dawn you hear it quite clearly but once the house starts moving and the TV is on it can kinda get mixed up with the rest.

I don’t like that noise. It is too high pitched for my tender earbuds. Makes me very agitated and ready to run for the hills.

The Bro fixed what he thought was the culprit when he got home from the night shift but it started up again when he’d gone to sleep.

Dad had to let him sleep so it was well into the afternoon before he nuked the nasty.

To add to my troubles just before she left for work Ma got a call from the agent who handles the rental apartment above the shop to say the tenant had called to say the heating had packed up! This made Ma jittery and that always transfers right into my bones.

Knowing that bad things always present themselves in threes we waited for the “what will happen next”

You’ll be glad to know 24 hours on we are still waiting but are feeling somewhat uneasy.

Do you feel like that too or are we just a tad pessimistic?

Best go to my safe space till this is all resolved apart from being under the bed I’ve been there for ages now!! Nail biting business!!!

Precious Peeps it me the PERFECT PITTY here to heave you happily over the humpty.

I am in heaven. My Dad found a bargain on Facebook market place.

It’s a 65inch flat screen TV. He got it Monday and it’s for the living room in our new house.

Until we sell this house and move it is to be lodged in our chamber.

It takes up the entire desk. That’s OK because dad doesn’t use the desk any more.

I was surprised Granny didn’t have a fit when she saw it but she was pretty cool with it.

So now when there is a big footie game on or a Grand Prix or such Dad and I can pretend we are there.

This is probably the closest I’ll get to the movies so I’m hoping we’ll also watch some oscar worthy films.

Be like me enjoy every opportunity to lie in bed and enjoy some good viewing. There is nothing as cosy as a wet old day with a blanket up to your nose and a bit of light entertainment.

If I’m not too engrossed in a miniseries I’ll talk to you Friday.

In the meantime know that in life every cloud has a silver lining or is that a silver screen!

Love y’all

We had a lovely little Monday. A great start to the week.

Despite her throbbing thumb Ms baked enough scones to see her through the next week or two. See she freezes them so they are always fresh.

We sampled and declared them good. Quality Assurance approved.

Dad made yogurt so it was a hive of cottage industry.

For dinner Ma made homemade sausage rolls that are in the Bro’s top ten preferred food list. They run a close third to Steak and Beef Wellington.

I like them myself but since Ma puts onion and garlic and celery in them I’m only allowed a tiny taste.

You would think Ma won the lottery because Aldi has puff pastry on sale for $3.99. They usually don’t stock it so it’s probably seasonal. That’s a great price less than half what she she paid in Kroger last time the Bro had a craving for the delicacy.

Our freezer is now jammed packed with the airy material. With a bit of luck it will still be around for a few more weeks for her Victorian Christmas!

Ma sometimes has a sore shoulder. She puts this down to our tugging on trots when we want to worry wildlife.

Last night she told Dad that she was going to Deep Heat it. Man that rub stinks and she used a metric ton of it.

Here’s what happened though.

No sooner were we snuggled up in bed with a hot but pain free shoulder than she took an almighty intense pain in her right thumb.

No matter what way she turned the thumb throbbed and the pain radiated up the inside of her wrist and arm.

We wracked our brains as to what could have caused it. If it had been a sprain from one of our “forced extensions” wouldn’t she have felt it at the point of the pull?

Could it be gout? She has been hitting the sunflowers seeds as a snack pretty heavily these past days.

Could it be carpel tunnel syndrome from too much typing for me? The right thumb definitely does most of the work.

Maybe it is repetitive stress injury from holding heavy teapots and pouring too much tea.

Or is it possible that the pain in the shoulder is escaping via the thumb.

Remember that old rhyme about bones being connected. If one joint relaxes is it possible a trapped nerve emerges and bingo you have activated a new issue.

It’s a bit better this morning but if you have ever experienced something similar please share so I can reassure her she hasn’t gone nuts.,

Well that’s the fashion show extravaganza over till spring!

I did enjoy trying out all the new ideas and Ma said that they went done well.

She had some cranberry cake leftover so we had to Google if dogs can eat cranberries.

You’ll be please to hear that they do and that they even offer some health benefits.

So as soon as I hit publish with my paw on this edition Ma and me will be hoofing it downstairs to partake of said festive food for brekkie.

Don’t what ever you do tell Jaws or she’ll be scraping her chamber door to get in on the act too.

Of course she’d eat anything unlike myself who is a “fin bec”!

Ma was at work but we who remained at home had a very frustrating day.

We’d arranged to have our gas fireplaces serviced in time for winter.

The company said their technician would be arriving between 8:00 and 10:00 am but at the 2:00 pm there still was no show!!!

In between serving tea Ma called the company SEVEN times. They kept saying the technician would call back.

Nothing!

We seriously started to wonder if the company was for real.

Without doubt the person answering the phone was not based in Dublin Ohio!

On the EIGHTH call they eventually told Ma that the technician had been delayed at an earlier call.

Now this makes the blood boil especially if you’re Irish.
