Why is Wimbledon late this year?

In days gone by it always was on when we were doing exams at school.

Is it to compete with the feet of the footie?

Anyway that’s not what I wanted to talk about.

Strawberries and Cream are the tradition at Wimbledon so they say. I haven’t been YET but we do it differently.

We’re on the water melon instead.

So cooling as your humans sweat watching the nail biters.

Man that new young dude Ben Shelton sure gave Jannik Sinner a run for his money yesterday.

Shame about Coco but Emma was awesome!

You all know by now that I am excessively intelligent. Why else would you follow me so devotedly.

Well here is my latest piece of philosophy.

Bunnies, even if they are brainless, need to be trained to be weed whackers.

Can you imagine if instead of eating annuals they ate dandelions.

I bet I could train them with treats.

It would be so environmentally friendly and much better than all those chemicals that just wash off.

We could start a side line in fur hats and make bunny burgers too.

Oh I am so excited.

I must patent the idea instantly.

Blessing#2123-Brain Food

So what do you think of the new Prime Minister in the UK?

Ma is die hard LABOUR so she is delighted.

Mind you she did like Rishi because he’s a Hindu like Dads side of the family. Ma says he got a rough ride having to take over from the mess Boris left not to mention Liz Truss.

Still it was time for a change. Ma is eternally indebted to the original Kier who transformed the country all those years ago.

She still remembers her Granny Barr who was born in 1881 and died in 1965 talking about people going to the work house.

Thanks to what the Labor party did working class people like my Ma could go to great schools and university without getting the family into financial trouble.

This, coupled with the blessed National Health service that hopefully this Kier will resuscitate meant people could live without fear of getting sick.

Let’s see what Kier 2.0 can do and hope it brings new opportunities.

Blessing#2122-Change of Guard.

Have you ever watched extreme hoarders?

Ma is sort of the opposite of that.

She like to run to the edge so she can see the wood from the trees.

Dad on the other hand leans towards heavy handed inventory.

Each time he escapes the house with the bro he goes to the dollar store where he causes out of stock situations by procuring among other things the fiery cheese puffs that Ma can’t resist.

She keeps telling him not to buy them as they blow her up and turn her fingers red but he continues. His form of love token I suppose!

Now to help you understand his excessive compulsion let me introduce you to our stock of pooper bags.

Each roll has 30 bags. Now I know the Pitty Princess is a prolific producer but we must have at least enough to see us through till 2026!

Yet the piling (pardon the pun) continues and as Ma is the only one who walks us I guess he must think this too is a token of his esteem for her endeavors!

Blessing#2121-Waste Not Want Not

It’s July 4th so all of you in the USA will have the day off and many will take tomorrow off too so you will have some super sized sport!

Granny is only taking today off as she’s got plenty of bookings at the tearoom tomorrow.

She had to make a point today on her website about all good things starting with tea. Never misses a trick that gal.

I know where I get my brains from!!!!!

There will be fireworks tonight that don’t bother me but the heavenly boom booms were bad last night. They did my head in and we got enough rain to water for a week.

So Granny has decided we’ll be weeding. While she nukes a few nettles I’m going to hunt bunnies. They’d go nicely on the grill tonight with that BBQ and corn. All very American but first some British Breakfast!

Blessing#2120-Strong Brew

I’m preparing for my moment in the spotlight. It’s important to get the best angle.

Full on can look rather intimidating if you are endowed with canines like mine.

Although I must say no one has a smile quite as genuine as mine.

I guess most of you would prefer a softer ombré.

The head down tilt that Princess Diana perfected may look a little too timid for a president. Slightly sorrowful somehow!

Personally I like the left facing stance where I appear to be gazing into the future. Shows my stature and strength too.

Of course it’s impossible to take a bad photo of me I am without doubt the most handsome hound in history.

I know you didn’t sleep all night waiting for the update on the epic poem.

Well you want to know the truth. Ma didn’t read it all. She gave up after the first few of the 61 verses and went straight to the “in a nutshell version”.

Bottom line is this was based on Greek mythology so not original to Chaucer. He embellished it well though and scholars rate it as his best work.

You know the usual plot of star crossed lovers and how they eventually succumb to tragedy.

That’s the deal and if asked who said the immortal words “it is nought good a sleeping hound to wake” it was Pandanus who was the lovers go between.

You know the old saying “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie” well a certain precocious Pitty person hasn’t.

I was right in the middle of a super sweet dream yesterday morning about six when she entered our chamber and tried to get into bed with Ma and me.

I went berserk!

There was almost a blood bath.

How dare she.

I hope she has learned her lesson.

For my part, thanks to this incident, I discovered that the origin of the adage in question is Proverbs 26, 17 adapted by none other than Geoffrey Chaucer in 1374 to its current form in his epic poem Troilus and Criseyde.

Did you need to know this? Of course not but commit it to memory so next time someone uses it you can be a real smart ass and smug.

I’ll give you the scoop on the plot tomorrow as I need to pee so haven’t time to dig into it right now.

That said I did imbibe from her appearances on TODAY that the best way to thoroughly and rapidly cook a chicken is the SPATCHCOCK method.

It dawned on me if this is true for cooking it must also be true for cooling.

So dear readers trust me that when you are overwhelmed by heat just stretch out like the proverbial fabulous fowl and you will soon feel fitter.

No need to dissect the innards though. That would be taking things to unnecessary extremes.
