My Mom broke her promise. She didn’t take me to paint.

She had to give a lady a ride and said I might scare her with my bark. Rubbish!

Well she did return in decent time. All smiles because two of the three sinks are in and she got her floor painted.

She also had a quick detour to the thrift store and snagged a big bargain.

So she can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I can see happy days ahead.

When Ma and I got up the sun was rising. That meant we were a good hour later than normal. It was real pretty.

Just as well herself had that extra snooze. She had plans.

The trot over she left me to care for Dad and headed off to rip up carpet. I couldn’t help because the gripper rods could hurt my paws.

The plumbers were are the project putting holes in walls and such like for her sinks. They turned out to be real helpful too.

Seeing her ripping the carpet and then cutting it into pieces one of the big guys brought his knife. In a shot the carpet was in manageable pieces. Would have taken her ages.

When she set to taking up the gripping rods the guy went to his truck again and got a crow bar. He then ripped them up before you could say Jack Robinson.

Next up he brought her a tool she’d never heard of before a collar claw. He showed her how to use it to take up the tacks and low and behold the job she thought would take days was done in four hours.

Her wee hands were a big mess. Broken nails, dry and a bit bloody but after I gave her a good once over she said she felt much better.

We’ll be painting tomorrow and since I was so helpful I’m going along for the ride.

Our clock sprang forward this morning. Didn’t make any difference to me but when Ma and I went out for our usual trot there wasn’t a single soul about.

So I got to run free and then all of a sudden we happened on the local deer herd. They were grazing away in a neighbors yard. Must have been their breakfast time and of course they don’t understand clocks like I do.

I took off like greased lightening after them. They split into two groups. I didn’t catch the first lot so I circled back to give it a second shot.

I went totally out of sight of Ma who was a little panicked but in about five minutes we met up again.

She didn’t let me run free again. Said I had to stay close as her heart almost stopped.

Like the deer the bro has not adjusted his clock. He emerged from the basement after midday.

He’d been working late so I can excuse his tardiness but it is so good to see him.

I just kick up my heels when he’s home even if I hardly recognize him any more.

Ma had a meeting this morning but so many people dropped out at the last minute it had to be postponed.

There were all sorts of issues: floods, vaccines, account frauds even broken bones. Poor people.

The outcome though is we got to go out for a car ride in the sunshine.

I’ve been spoiled this week with a lot of great trips. It’s something that I never tire of. I just love driving around.

My namesake Scooby Doo loved his vehicle too. His even had a name it was called the Mystery Machine.

No mystery about ours though it just the Junk Jalopy.

I was hanging around minding my own business this morning after my trot when Ma took to tornado tempo.

Poor Dad hardly had time to down his coffee and we were shoved into the car.

The plumber was ready to swing into action and so was the electrician so we were off bright and breezy to the project.

Herself had a fit of panic about two this morning. The refrigerator she’d planned on buying would fit in the space for sure, she’d measured that right about a million time but would it go through the door? This is an old place and doors aren’t your standard openings.

Heavens what a close call that was. The door opening was three inches short of the depth of the fridge. Saved by insomnia.

Once we had that squared off and the electrician had blessed the placement of the power outlet for the said chiller we took off for downtown Columbus.

Our destination my dear friends deserves a DRUM ROLL nothing less than Restaurant Equippers Inc!!

The order was placed for a three well sink, workbench and a refrigerator that would squeeze through the door.

We even left with a hand sink in hand so to speak. Never has the saying they even packed the kitchen sink rung more true.

Happy Days

Ma was watching Miss Pudgy Picker this morning to get ideas for the tearoom and for her antique booth.

Miss Pudgy Picker is an Ohio based expert thrifter and she guides on pricing and the items that sell well in her own antique booth.

This morning one of her little dogs was in the video too and I think that got Ma thinking she’d neglected me this week.

I kissed her just like Tater kissed his Ma and so I got to ride along with her to the tearoom and then we did some shopping.

I saw big Brian who is going to help with some finishing touches and make a hole in the wall for the plumber. Things are now starting to progress well at the project over the past days since I last inspected. Ma has been working hard.

I especially like the staircase Brian built. He’s a nice dude and of course has a puppy too.

Our shopping went super well too and we snagged some good deals including a original piece by a local artist called Vivian Ripley.

The frame is a bit dodgy but you know what a lick of paint can do wonders. Just like a kiss.

Poor Major Biden was in the dog house because he nipped some White House staffer on the finger when they were out playing.

I totally get how such an accident / incident could occur because when I get excited fetching my toys my dentures can get a little close to the humans digits.

You’ll be pleased to hear that POTUS and FLOTUS stuck up for Major and he’s not lost any titles or security detail.

He and Champ even got to do an interview with someone who’s said to be The Queen of TV

I wondered why we had to watch the same program twice when the interval between the first and second viewing was less than 24 hours.

That’s what we did last night.

Ma was so mad on Sunday when she watched “Meghan and Harry with Oprah” that she felt she had to listen more carefully and with more compassion the second time around. I paid attention too.

Now this is going to be controversial but I tend to agree with my Ma who feels it was a terrible thing to do to the Queen whom she admires greatly for her ability to keep her chin up and carry on even in dire circumstances

If you love rescuing things be they chickens or puppies how come you don’t have compassion to rescue a wonderful 95 year old lady and her 99 year old hospitalized husband who have given their whole lives to serve their country particularly when they happen to be your grandparents?

Having been married to a person of color for the past 35 years Ma knows that racial inequality is real in this world but within a family even a royal family is this the way to address the issue?

Surely this could, as her Majesty just suggested, have been a matter resolved in private rather than on two hours of prime time US TV with Oprah.

Who benefits from this public airing of grievance? Will it elevate the extent of racial inequality? Will it help the monarchy or be the final jewel in The Crown!

Thank goodness her Majesty has her new Corgis to give her the love she deserves.

I enjoyed my dinner so much just now I gulped it down real fast.

I then got super excited as my girlfriends walked past. So I was running from window to another to talk to them.

Add to this that Dad played a bit of tennis with me. All this in the space of ten minutes.

Et Voila I puked. I’m now full of remorse.

This was the icing on the cake for Ma as she’d found out the roof needs some costly repair at the project.

She just wants to pretend this isn’t happening. She afraid of what the plumber is going to tell her.

I’m going to love her more than usual tonight.

Ma was working this afternoon. That’s just as well because she needs the work to pay her rent. She’s not having a good time selling at the minute.

She keeps taking new things in but I keep telling her she’s overstocked. There’s not an inch of free space left

Yet what did she do on the way home? She went shopping for more.

Among other finds a vintage English teapot by Wade called Bramble

The only saving grace here is that if things go to plan she will need a few to brew-up as they say.

You gotta get things in perspective. Or at least pretend you have.

She’s roasting a chicken now so go figure where my priorities lie. The only T that interests me is called a wish bone!
