So you’ve probably been wondering where we went yesterday. You won’t believe this. The Addams Family Granny is smarter than my Mom!

The plan was Morticia and me would spend a half day at doggy day care to see if we qualify for boarding in October at the Spa! You need to be refined to go to the Spa! No bad behavior! Might rule out Mort!

The bro and Ma had all the paperwork with them to show our vaccination records.

Problem is Ma didn’t look past the first page of Morticia’s file. The PITs rabies was valid but her other vaccines expired last week!

So result is they couldn’t let her in. I could have stayed as I’m smart and all shot up like Itt but Ma wouldn’t leave me without the PIT.

So home we came. All the way the bro was on the phone negotiating with the vet tech to get an earlier appointment for the beast. He’s very persuasive my bro. Charming just like Gomez. He got an appointment for tomorrow at 4:30. Maybe he’ll take her flowers!

We found Dad with a face like Fester surrounded by carpet cleaners who had arrived to clean in our absence.

Result. Jaws got locked up in the bros room and I was left in the screened porch to stew. It was then that Ma got a call that she’d left her card at the dog spa. It’s forty minutes away!!!!

So off the Bro and Ma went leaving me still on the porch and Dad still surrounded by carpet cleaners.

Worst of all they stopped for lunch on the way home again and didn’t bring me a scrap.

We’re now rescheduled for our test run on Monday. This is set to be a soap opera!!!!

In the meantime Mort and I have agreed we need team work to return this carpet to its usual doggy perfume. Currently it smells like Channel! Simply Monstrous to me!!!

My nose tells me that there is something strange going on.

We got a very short shift around the circle this morning and we had no time for chat.

Why the hurry? It’s a beautiful long shadow day!

The bro is off and so is Ma so there is no rush for work.

Ma keeps saying « you must be good »

How can anyone doubt that I’m good. Just look at that face! Don’t I look like the picture of innocence.

Wait! What is this

We’ve just been packed into the car!

I can’t believe it were off!

Have you heard of the movie Home Alone well that was me yesterday. At first it was fun until it got scary!

I’m the chief lookout and guard around here and I got busy early. I alerted Ma just after dawn that Memorial and her Mom were back dining in our yard.

She took pics but they are not great. The kid is getting big but she still has her baby spots.

Memorial’s Mom is letting her get a bit further away from her now but when she hears me she swiftly shortens the distance.

After our trot Dad and Ma took off around nine. The bro had already gone to work and Jaws was put in her crate to slumber.

I get a giant milk bone when they leave so after enjoying that I hung out and had a nice nap.

I scared away a few squirrels barked at bikers and let any passer by know I was present. You can’t be careful enough these days!

By now it was midday. I was feeling bored so I went to bed for an hour then did a tour of the ranch checked each window and then I saw it.

As the clock stuck two far far in the west black skies were brewing.

Where the heck were the parents.

Had they been sucked into a storm cloud.

Would they ever come home

I stuck my nose to the front window watching for their car.

Maybe they would come soon.

Maybe they were in a ditch somewhere. This storm looked bad

It was too sad. Would the bro care for me. Maybe Auntie Denise will adopt me maybe I can go to Marsha’s farm where there are double rainbows. Think good thoughts I told myself.

At two thirty the lightening started and the thunder came so quick the storm was overhead. The trees were blowing. I was lost.

That’s when I hear it. The garage door was opening they were safe and they were home.

I shook off by panic and put on my bravest face and sat behind the kitchen door to the garage like nothing happened at all.

PITS here dear Peeps. I’m not feeling so pretty at present.

I’ve had a dodgy tummy for the past two days. Not sure what I ate!! Must have been a tad past it’s sell by date!

Granny knew something was up on Friday morning when I went to the garage door leaving a few kibble still in my bowl. To say I was in a hurry would be an understatement.

Yesterday we were up very early and this time I went for the emergency exit even before eating. Dad was on his way out to work so he got the message and got me out.

He left Granny to take care of my production as he had to open up the shop.

His parting words to her were « well at least she didn’t do it inside »

He’s my hero my Dad.

Defends me at ever opportunity.

I took things easy for the rest of the day and the Gizz was good to me for once. Put on his concerned and compassionate canine pose.

Getting this off my chest and out of my system has helped. You must always share your woes!

I’m ready for a good nosh up now so I’ll leave you with my deepest love!

Sometimes I feel Jaws and me are becoming like an old married couple.

We spend most of our free time together.

We get in each others way.

Sometimes we fight.

Most often though she talks I listen and we just hang out and eat or sleep or watch TV.

If we get really adventurous we go for a car ride.

That makes us extra specially happy.

It gets annoying all Moms talk of work and me having to stay home at the ranch all day. It’s so boring!!!!

Yesterday she had to run by the tourist office to drop of more of her cards and she picked up the new brochure they’ve made.

She’s all chuffed because “they have a picture of my place in there”!

They also have pictures of the Presidential sites and they feature his dog!

Heck they have even developed a special flyer just about the critter.

If that doesn’t persuade Ma that I should be taken for tea too I don’t know what will.

Don’t I look regal? Wouldn’t I fit perfectly by the side of my lady?

Isn’t it funny when you know two people who don’t know each other but who have a lot in common? It’s like they really should be introduced!

Such is the case with my Auntie Laura and our neighbor Laura. Not only do they have the same name but they share a common love of butterflies.

When Mom was about to open her tearoom Auntie Laura was still living in Ohio. She now divides her time between Florida, Georgia and North Carolina depending on the season. It’s in my plan to visit her one of these days.

Anyway Auntie Laura who also like neighbor Laura loves gardening decided the tearoom needed an outdoor makeover. So she arrived one day with a truck load of plants and started work.

She planted two butterfly bushes that were tiny at the time but have grown to be huge and smell just like honey!

The are now delivering on their promise and attracting lots of butterflies. There was a swarm of them yesterday and a few bees too.

Now here’s the funny thing neighbor Laura has a butterfly garden where she harvest monarch’s eggs and then releases them to start their journey.

It may be a bit far fetched as the tearoom is thirty miles from home but wouldn’t it be strange if the butterflies my Mom saw at the tearoom yesterday were neighbor Laura’s babies feasting on Auntie Laura’s gift. Maybe they’re fueling up to go visit her!!!!

When Ma went out to take the picture of the rainbow she also took a few shots of her snapdragons.

She marvels daily on their beauty and how so many of them are little gifts from heaven.

See she only planted a dozen or so this year and yet she has pop ups everywhere.

They’re all sorts of colors too. She is racking her Mendelian mind map to determine what might be dominant and recessive. Anyone with insight speak up!

They really are such giving little souls.

Never demanding of water. Resistant to the ravages of rabbits and generally to deer too.

They’re also tough and survive all the way through to the first hard frost.

Wonders of nature.

Remind you of anyone?

There was a lovely big shower yesterday evening around dinner time that meant no watering was needed. Happy box tick one!

When we went out for our post prandial pee there was also a beautiful rainbow. Happy tick two!

Ma gets all gooey when she sees one because it reminds her of her homeland.

Rainbows are much more frequent in Ireland maybe because there are more periods of gentle rain and less downpours. Who knows?

Anyway it meant a swift return to base camp for jaws and me so she could take photos.

We were hoping she’d maybe trace the pot of gold as that would spell snacks but all she came back with was a big smile on her face. She’d captured the 7:15 departure for Newark as well and was so so glad she was on the ground and not going there! happy tick three!!!

Today marks a very special anniversary for the people of India including my Dad.

75 years ago today they gained their independence from the British.

Dad is still tied to his very own Brit after 36 years but that’s by agreement and not by enforcement.

The country has been through hard times since that day but has overcome many obstacles to become a world superpower and tech giant.

Great leaders were responsible for bringing independence to this beautiful and amazing country not least the Mahatma. Some might argue he was the most influential leader of modern times and was certainly the inspiration and initiator of Civil Rights movements around the globe.

However, I must say a special word for Nehru. He was the first Prime Minister and led the country for those initial and most important first 17 years that included civil war.

He had it all brains and bounty and beauty and of course also was a dog lover. What more is there to say except well done and happy birthday!
