There was a lovely big shower yesterday evening around dinner time that meant no watering was needed. Happy box tick one!

When we went out for our post prandial pee there was also a beautiful rainbow. Happy tick two!

Ma gets all gooey when she sees one because it reminds her of her homeland.

Rainbows are much more frequent in Ireland maybe because there are more periods of gentle rain and less downpours. Who knows?

Anyway it meant a swift return to base camp for jaws and me so she could take photos.

We were hoping she’d maybe trace the pot of gold as that would spell snacks but all she came back with was a big smile on her face. She’d captured the 7:15 departure for Newark as well and was so so glad she was on the ground and not going there! happy tick three!!!

Today marks a very special anniversary for the people of India including my Dad.

75 years ago today they gained their independence from the British.

Dad is still tied to his very own Brit after 36 years but that’s by agreement and not by enforcement.

The country has been through hard times since that day but has overcome many obstacles to become a world superpower and tech giant.

Great leaders were responsible for bringing independence to this beautiful and amazing country not least the Mahatma. Some might argue he was the most influential leader of modern times and was certainly the inspiration and initiator of Civil Rights movements around the globe.

However, I must say a special word for Nehru. He was the first Prime Minister and led the country for those initial and most important first 17 years that included civil war.

He had it all brains and bounty and beauty and of course also was a dog lover. What more is there to say except well done and happy birthday!

We’re not sure why but the deer are out in force all around us.

Maybe it’s the cooler weather or the full moon but yesterday our neighbor saw a herd of twelve when she was out on her walk. We only saw five.

The exciting news though is Memorial is back. We’re sure it’s her as we recognized her Mom and she’s an only child. They have taken to hiking across our yard again and yesterday they brought the buck along.

Mom thought this was unusual but Auntie Denise figures that they are working on making a little brother or sister for Memorial.

I’m keeping my eye out for them so we can get a better picture.

It will be hard to beat the one Auntie Mary got in her garden yesterday. That’s what you call up close and personal.

Greetings passionate peeps PITS publishing today just to make you deliriously delighted no matter how demanding the past days have been.

You see I can relate. This blasted super moon has driven the Grey Gizzard half demented.

He has been aroused to such an extent that I have been forced to ferociously fight off his advances.

Now I know that even if I have not had much sleep because of that great mass of stone shining like the sun all night long I am still outstandingly beautiful but still all this ardor is annoying.

He pins me to the floor after a chase around the table and then smack he starts slobbering all over me.

So see no one can be in a worse position at present than your PITS

Take heart in knowing that you have a soulmate in me.

We were out for our last trot on Wednesday evening and once again Ma mortified me.

Our neighbor Debbie was putting out her trash and Ma was right in there. “Are you throwing out that old bicycle Debbie?” she asks. I felt like biting her. What the heck did she think the lady was doing with it! Taking it for a trot too! I hung my head in shame. Debbie will certainly tell Stewie her grand puppy all about this next time he visits and my reputation as the district tough guy will be shattered.

It would be so perfect for my antique store” she continues. Oh so the Tearoom has now become an antique store!!!! I almost pulled the arm off her to get home. Meanwhile Mega is pulling as hard in the opposite direction to get some attention from Debbie. Serves Ma right if we make a bifurcation in her body one day!

Anyway she goes on “I’ll be right back for it when I’ve taken these two home” Heck we’re only three house down from home did she think we’d get lost!!!!

So it was that the three wheeled vehicle made its way to Marion.

When she got home last night she was all “oh look at how perfectly that wee bicycle goes at my side door doesn’t it just fit my pie house sign perfectly?” I nearly puked.

She’s such an embarrassment. I cannot hold my head up in this neighborhood any more. I’m going to jump on one of those two mile trains and take off for good to live with Laura in Carolina. Wait I feel a song coming on!!!!!

You know I’m a rescue. I may still on occasions be behind bars but I’m in a good place. Thanks fam!

Well my Ma also rescues plants.

Last year she decided every time the deer noshed the sedums she’d take any of their leftovers and root them. She gets this from Granny Barr who was a passionate rooter.

So the outcome is that our patio is now a sedum jungle. The are everywhere.

In corners

On window steps

Hanging out with herbs.

She had such success with Miracle Grow on a sickly petunia in May that she is applying it to everything. If I turn into a wolfhound you’ll know what has happened.

Now, if the sedum wasn’t bad enough she has now adopted the same strategy with hostas. Deers ice-cream is about to be given a whole new life!

If each one of those babies gets it’s own pot there will soon be no room to move! I have my eye out for alternative accommodation!

Yesterday Ma cut up another big watermelon. We’ve been having good luck with them this year. They’ve all been sweet as sugar.

This one was said to be seedless (in reality almost seedless) and according to Dad also tasteless. He’s not impressed. Screwed up his nose and refused to eat more than a bite!

So we have a ton of it in the fridge. Ma was getting some out this morning for her breakkie and a big chunk skidded off the plate.

I was noshing my kibble at the time so was on the mark as quick as you could say «waste less »

I thought it tasted yum and snatched it off to the carpet to gobble up the whole thing rind and all.

See the way I help and appreciate my Mom! Unlike some other males around this joint.

I suspect when a certain lady wakes she might assist me though.

Each day we think of our loved ones across the rainbow bridge but they seem especially close when someone special joins them.

Who’d have thought when we watched Grease on Saturday night that the world would loose the lovely Olivia Newton John two days later.

I never met my Granny (Moms Mom) but seems she loved Olivia too when she was a regular on the Cliff Richard show in the early 1970s.

I do hear her words of wisdom often though. One saying that seems most appropriate today is « you never know the minute »

Another appeared this morning in a post from a friend.

Granny’s version was a little different « where the heart lies the feet will wander »

A lot of our family wandered to Ireland from far afield last week for a big reunion to celebrate one of our cousins 60th wedding anniversary. Mom is now kicking herself she didn’t go. Just look at this for spectacular.

It gives a new perspective on another one of Granny’s favs « Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today »

So Ma has « turned over a new leaf » and has « started out on the right foot » by booking tickets to go see a concert in December.

No more « next time »

The bro is easy going. He’d eat almost anything. A bit like his daughter. Nonetheless, Ma asks him every Sunday before she goes to get the groceries if there’s anything he’d fancy.

So yesterday on his way out the door to work he said risotto.

Flip! She had a hard job finding it. I know because I’m left in charge of things here and was on duty from 8:45 till 1:15. I knew they would be away a while because they do Church before grocery but I mean four and a half hours!!

Seems they had to hit three stores before they found the grain in question and nearly fainted when they saw the price of it $8.35 for two pounds!!!! Must have been flown in on private jet from Italy.

Anyway as their search took them in the vicinity of Goodwill Dad requested a detour to look for books, as if he doesn’t have any, and in addition found a jigsaw puzzle of the Taj Mahal. Just what a body needs! Shows he’s in fine form though if he’s on the bargain hunt again.

So what did I do? Kept things in order and people in hand by dreaming of delights!

At the end of the day life is about making people happy and so it was for the bro that the risotto accompanied by plenty of steak did the trick and took him swiftly to the land of nod.

Sometimes of a Saturday we watch a movie especially if we’re having pizza. It’s like the two things « go together like a whop baba luba and whop bam boom! »

That should give y’all a clue as to what’s coming next.

IS THE WORD.

Ma loves it and I must say I’ve taken a certain partiality to it myself. It elevates the happiness level exponentially!

I pretend I’m Danny

Mum is always Sandy.

So that makes Mega either Frenchie or Rizzo.

I think the latter don’t you!

Even with a wig on there is no hiding naughty! « Tell me more tell me more »
