I’m rather late today as I have been to my coiffeuse.

It’s true I needed treatment as you can see from this shot of Ma and me taking off this morning.

There was a seriously large and vocal Alsatian in the beauty parlor when I arrived and I tried my best to leave immediately even pulled my own collar off. Ma would have none of it. She insisted I stick around with all the other clients and abandoned me.

Thereafter is a blank.

It for sure involved bathing and snipping and some snarling too.

Fortunately no canine in the salon was as large as this babe we saw hanging out a car window in the way home. I’d have found someway to escape if that giant had barked at me. It’s like a lion!

With my handsomeness firmly reestablished I couldn’t be happier as we took the long way home.

It’s pretty as can be right now with the wild flowers in bloom and the corn growing as you watch it.

We passed a few magical places like one called buttermilk hill. Next time we must make a stop. For sure there’s good dairy products to be had around there.

Now I am home and dry, well watered and fed in feeling fit as a fiddle.

They say that every cloud has a silver lining. That sometimes doesn’t seem to be the case when the are bursting.

It’s been a stormy 24 hours here. We need the rain but it’s not conducive to sound sleep.

Ma says the sky always looks great after a downpour which I suppose it does but when the weather is threatening the walks are short!

In the UK everyone is delighted because the sun shone on England and they beat Germany in the football.

Even we from the Emerald Isle will wish them well now that they’ve qualified. Will give us a team to cheer on.

This lovely dish Auntie Dee Dee gave us says it all!

After our walk this morning Ma said she was going to do a bit of yard work. I was hot so I watched from the window.

She’s cutting all the mint back as it’s got straggly this way there’ll be plenty of time for a second crop to grow this year for Dads chutney.

When she was deep in our jungle she found something very unusual. Hidden within the mint was this beautiful flower.

She says it must have been an Easter Lily from a few years ago that she’d dibbled in with little hope of ever seeing it again.

It sure made her happy though.

It’s got a powerful perfume too. No need for shake and vac with that around.

She got a second spurt of energy when it was safely tucked in a vase so we migrated to the back patio to week some more.

I’ve found the greatest spot there for overseeing my kingdom. It’s just the right height to get a perspective on all the traffic and critters.

Well ventilated too and of course matches my outfit very well.

You’ll have heard the saying “take up thy bed and walk”.

Well my bro has taken it literally.

He’s moving into his own apartment.

Since April when college ended he’s been living back at home but it seems that taste of independence was too good to miss.

He’ll be paying his own rent and working full time and is not sure if he’ll go back to college or not.

Ma and Dad and me think he has to take care of himself but we can’t tell him what to do.

Life’s all about choices. This is a big one for him so all we can do is wish him well for the dawn of this new day.

We hope he comes visiting and doesn’t forget about us.

Herself was at work at the antique store today. I don’t mind that as it keeps the snacks coming.

What I do mind though is that she stops at yard sales on the way home and buys more “treasures”.

She then sits for NINETY minutes trying to work out what the mark is on a set of four teacups and saucers (there’s also a cup and a saucer with chips so she’s not counting them) that she found. “Don’t you understand Scooby Teacups sell in a Tearoom”

She thinks it’s Dresden so if you know for Pete’s sake send her a message.

Now reader imagine my frustration. I could fill all four with what I’ve been holding tight to in my bladder since this morning.

I sit up, I lie down, I take every pose to show I’m desperate but to no avail. Heck I even try smiling.

One of these days I’ll huff and puff and blow the house down.

Do you tell yourself things over and over again and then not do them.

Of course that would never apply to me but it does for Mom. I support her none the less in every way I can.

She’s been saying for weeks, since it got warm, that she was going to sit out on the patio and chill of an evening.

Yesterday we did it just after our walk. It was like Goldilocks porridge not too hot and not too cold just warm enough.

I like being outside. It’s so much more entertaining for me than watching Call the Midwife.

I can bird watch and bark at passers by and even scare deer if I get lucky.

Herself can’t keep still for long though.

If she’s not deadheading flowers she’s running in and out to the fridge to top up her fizz.

A bucket of ice would come in handy then we’d be really cool! Might have a cube or too myself or even some of that stinky stuff she sips to get the weekend going.

Long long ago when the Tearoom was still a building site my Ma stopped one day at a shop to get the workers some donuts.

These were not your average donut. They were baked by Amish people from some remote country location and are the size of a small saucepan.

Anyway she never did taste them as the workers scoffed them all but she told dad about them. He likes donuts so he asked her to bring him some. Often when she passed by the shop she stopped to get them but they were always sold out. That is until yesterday when she score the last three giants.

We had them this morning.

Dad said they were disappointing. « No jam »

You can’t please him!

I said they were delicious and helped him eat his. It was walnut. By the time I’d finished helping him herself had wolfed hers totally. Not so much as a crumb left.

There’s one sitting waiting for the bro that I’m hoping he’ll share.

In the meantime I’ll have a snooze to digest. A good carb rush does me in. Just as well my favorite spot is a perfect fit for my body.

Ma has me booked in for a chop next week. I’m not sad as the fringe is impeding by view of squirrels.

Here they call a fringe BANGS!

A bang is something quite different where Ma comes from.

She won’t tell be what it is.

She needs her hair cut too. It’s a disaster. Grows like a weed it does and makes her look witchy.

Not quite as bad though as some other birds like the one Auntie Mary posted this morning.

See my nose? It’s really powerful.

When we were out this morning I sensed something ahead. You know what my Ma did too.

She spied a skunk.

It wasn’t your average one either.

It was a monster.

Cut my walk short that critter did.

She nearly choked me trying to pull me away from it.

Said I’d be washed in ketchup if it sprayed us.

So here I am back home staring out the window while that stopped sausage is down it’s drain again and she’s away to work.

I’ll just dream about it.

I’ve had a wonderful day so far. It’s so cool. I even felt the good of my coat this morning. I won’t have it long for long as herself has me booked for a chop next week.

Just as long as she doesn’t get any fancy ideas.

We went for a long trot as we weren’t gasping and we saw all our critters having fun. The geese were lined up on the side of the pond preening themselves. There are at least two dozen if them. They ignore me totally.

We also saw about a dozen chipmunks and bunnies. They were all so frisky because of this cool weather.

We’ve just had lunch. Ma is into something different these days. She has a hankering for peanut butter and celery.

The green stuff is for geese and mammalian herbivores. The peanut butters not bad though. Lacks a little meatiness but the caloric density suits my taste and it sure sticks to the roof of your mouth.

Ideal for lingering loveliness while we snuggle down for a slumber.
