She and auntie Paula are organizing a GALENTINES event at the tearoom and boutique.
Paula is talking about style and fashion trends and Ma is serving tea. They are all psyched because they are sold out! More on this tomorrow.
Anyway she didn’t even take us half a mile this morning. As soon as my jobs were done she turned for home and dumped us with Dad. She might as well move to that wretched old house. At the very least she could build me a kennel up there.
So what else to do but play « give the dog a bone ». It’s a game you need two for so I suppose the niece is of some use. Limited mind you and only worthy when I win.
All this nonsense about being in it for the gamesmanship is bull. You gotta be the one on the top podium with your anthem playing. I nose you know.
The past few days we’ve had a thaw. That’s great because we get to walk further in the evening as it’s still light now when Ma gets home.
The niece is not yapping about how cold she is and shivering like some freak anymore. Just being a total pain as always. Attention seeking psycho!
My nose definitely tells me spring is just around the corner.
In Ireland, as seen in my Auntie Sandra’s garden pics it has already come. The snowdrops are blooming and the birds are singing.
Someone posted a pic from Sandringham where the Queen was staying last week and it look like virtual summer there. The grass is definitely greener at the palace plenty of pots of gold there too I bet.
We have no doubt some more days when snuggling will still be needed but it’s hopefully now safe to say the worst is over.
Our community pool even sent out emails about membership renewal. Bring out the bathing suits!
I am just curious if anyone else is as mad as my Mom.
She is is a bit manic when it comes to cups and glasses. Unlike my good self who gets by with the same bowl for my aqua, that horror or horrors I have to now share with a certain Princess, Ma has a designated container for each beverage.
She has to drink coffee in the morning from the same mug. Fortunately she has five of these specimens. She had half a dozen until last week when she broke one. It was like the death of a family member.
Now we have about a hundred other mugs but these mugs have history. They were purchased along with a dinner service at the Corning factory shop in upstate New York when she went to Rochester for my cousin Vandana’s graduation in 2000.
The mugs have lived in Connecticut, Shanghai, Switzerland, Paris and now Ohio.
They cannot be used for tea though. That has to be taken from a HUGE mug with paws on it.
I could almost swim in it such is the depth.
For red wine which is her winter tipple we have another large love. It is the sole survivor of a set of four she got as a Christmas gift about twenty years ago.
Her white wine glass is of finest quality and predates her marriage by six years as it comes from a set of 48 of various shapes and sizes that Dad bought in 1980 at La Boutique Danoise in Lausanne. About 20 are still around.
Her fizz for Friday glass is another singlet. She got a pair of them in a yard sale about six years ago. It is perfection for bubbles. « Allows them to rise » If she breaks it they’ll be trouble ahead.
What you may ask does she use for beer or soda? That comes from the can. No other way to drink it! Gotta have it ice cold. Only cans work.
Finally water. Well that is also generally of the fizzy variety so it’s taken from the can too and as for the still stuff we’ll that doesn’t matter as water is water provided of course it’s not from my bowl!
This morning we braved our usual two mile walk to the park because it was sunny and not too windy.
Auntie Denise had her phone so she took these pics to show how pretty it was.
The ice on the trees was all glistening and sparkly. Like Narnia.
Generally I was well behaved apart from having a go at the niece on the way home. She was getting in my way as I was leaving Instagrams on trees and bushes and lampposts.
Since I hadn’t been on the route for a week or more I had to be sure people knew that the Great Scooby is back!
Mega just did two big pees she can’t squirt like me. Maybe it’s a girl thing. Or maybe she isn’t into social media just yet.
Anyway she was very naughty jumping on poor Auntie Denise so she richly deserved the mauling I gave her.
Now she is annoying Mom who is making millions of mini muffins.
It’s the seventieth anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth’s accession to the throne.
Being regal myself I can understand the challenges she faces every day.
My Mom loves her. Sees her as the Mother of her country.
The Queen is so wise. Like myself!
She may have been one of the few born with a silver spoon in her mouth but she has been dealt some hard hands throughout the years.
Yet her Majesty soldiers on and keeps on climbing ever hill before her.
Now as a very old lady she once again has shown that she is not giving up. Rather, with immense foresight and diplomacy she is preparing the way for her successor to succeed.
I have no doubt we all can learn from this and show that we too can move on and accept almost every situation with grace, compassion and gratitude!
The bro was bored yesterday so he decided he’d weigh in on the baking business too. This time for home use!
We made chocolate chip cookies and brownies. We only got the cookie not the chips as we don’t do chocolate.
He teased us mercilessly and as a punishment got a call from his manager to say as soon as the emergency lifted he had to work!
Served him right.
The niece was annoyed as she had plans for a play day with him. She put on her « I’m a poor princess. Please Pitty me pout»
Did her no good at all. Instead she had to listen to Dad shouting at her and me stealing her Nyla.
I soon got bored with the babe and slunk off to bed.
A shut eye restored me to my usual jovial self.
This morning I was on top form and Ma braved the cold to take me and the menace for a one miler. The snow is pure white and has little sparkly bits in it that are shiny like diamonds. Hope you can see them.
We enjoyed crunching and said hi to some birdies who were the only living beings around. They are all fluffed up to keep warm.
Ma has gone to work so I’m holding down the fort with Dad while the niece and bro snore some more.
