Ma and I slept a little late this morning as we went to bed on rather a full stomach.

The bro brought us a bucket of KFC about eight last night saying it was annual fried chicken day. Any excuse for a big feed.

Regardless, we feasted and enjoyed even though we’d had dinner at six.

This morning Ma dawdled watching her heroine Miss Pudgy Picker.

She spends a lot atgarage sales which makes Ma feel righteous because she spends much less. Miss Pudgy Picker appears to have a business though where she sells as much as she buys which is not Ma’s status.

I like seeing Pudgy Pickers puppies. They make me feel righteous too as they interrupt her a lot.

With these delays we happened on a wondrous site in the woods. A four pointer deer all my himself having his breakfast. He was amazingly large and young and handsome. A bit like me.

Ma said he will be for sure the chief of the herd one day soon. He stood at least four feet at the withers.

Magnificent! You’ll need to believe us as we had no phone with us to capture him.

We bought a bag of peaches on Sunday when we went grocery shopping. The bro had one yesterday and declared it yuck.

They looked good so Ma tried one and the bro was right. They we all mealy and dry. So disappointing but you know appearances can deceive.

So then the question was make cobbler or make jam.

I plumped for jam.

Ma says sometimes she wonders why she just doesn’t trash things that aren’t good rather than fussing trying to make something out of them. It’s a false economy but she has to rescue.

It’s like that old saying about life and lemons.

There are alternative versions of that saying though.

Ma might like that one very well especially around six o’clock!

The frozen version seems good to me. A bit of fun.

Dad says we just need to adhere to the old Indian mantra if you add sugar you can even eat wool. I’ll resist.

The forth is frightening for some critters. I can cope but it does does get very noisy.

Ma and Pa went to our neighbors party and had fun.

They had a professional musician come again who is a great singer.

I could hear all the music and it would seem their was some karaoke and dancing too.

Ma showed me a video auntie Karen took and clearly she is not the best performer! It’s funny though.

The bro bought a heap of fireworks but we never did manage to set them off as he had to work the night shift at the hotel.

There were plenty going off all around us. They even scared a mouse out of its house.

We’re setting ours off tonight. gotta keep the good times rolling.

Happy 4th y’all. Your getting an extra long epistle for the occasion. We had to hold on to this number just for today.

Facebook memories are great but they can give you terrible nostalgia for the old country.

Mother is dying to eat fish and chips since this popped up. Says the stuff here’s just not the same as “home”.

I’d help given half a chance.

The bro enjoyed the food on that trip too.

It’s been nearly two years since they did their UK tour.

I wasn’t even around then.

Maybe one day I’ll get to sample all that fresh seafood.

For now it looks like I’ll have to stick with my latest treat which you may have guessed is outsourced from the tearoom.

Bread crust! Herself brings it home by the bag load. Our fridge is coming down with it.

Since there’s such an abundance of it she’s generous with her portions so I just crack on and enjoy it. Dry or not. Keeps me quaking. If I complained she’d give it to the ducks.

This morning we got an Independence Day card from Pastor Dave with some lovely critters eating strawberries.

It inspired us to use up not only our crummy crusts but also the leftover milk and cream and strawberries that hadn’t been used in the high teas this week.

Now this is not a portable potion so not a treat I can have on the move.

It’s a lot tastier though than your average crust and very festive looking too.

God Bless the good old USA

We’d just about eaten our dinner and settled in for the nightly nosh at the TV when the panic buttons started sounding.

A tornado was bearing down on Marion where we have our shop.

Ma was apoplectic with worry.

Having been struck by lightening last year I was pretty sure we couldn’t be so unlucky as to have another property damaged.

She was praying and texting and praying some more.

It worked. The tornado warning was lifted just about the time it was meant to touch down.

Still a big storm but not a catastrophe.

Just as well I’m around to keep her cool and watch over her.

I’m rather late today as I have been to my coiffeuse.

It’s true I needed treatment as you can see from this shot of Ma and me taking off this morning.

There was a seriously large and vocal Alsatian in the beauty parlor when I arrived and I tried my best to leave immediately even pulled my own collar off. Ma would have none of it. She insisted I stick around with all the other clients and abandoned me.

Thereafter is a blank.

It for sure involved bathing and snipping and some snarling too.

Fortunately no canine in the salon was as large as this babe we saw hanging out a car window in the way home. I’d have found someway to escape if that giant had barked at me. It’s like a lion!

With my handsomeness firmly reestablished I couldn’t be happier as we took the long way home.

It’s pretty as can be right now with the wild flowers in bloom and the corn growing as you watch it.

We passed a few magical places like one called buttermilk hill. Next time we must make a stop. For sure there’s good dairy products to be had around there.

Now I am home and dry, well watered and fed in feeling fit as a fiddle.

They say that every cloud has a silver lining. That sometimes doesn’t seem to be the case when the are bursting.

It’s been a stormy 24 hours here. We need the rain but it’s not conducive to sound sleep.

Ma says the sky always looks great after a downpour which I suppose it does but when the weather is threatening the walks are short!

In the UK everyone is delighted because the sun shone on England and they beat Germany in the football.

Even we from the Emerald Isle will wish them well now that they’ve qualified. Will give us a team to cheer on.

This lovely dish Auntie Dee Dee gave us says it all!

After our walk this morning Ma said she was going to do a bit of yard work. I was hot so I watched from the window.

She’s cutting all the mint back as it’s got straggly this way there’ll be plenty of time for a second crop to grow this year for Dads chutney.

When she was deep in our jungle she found something very unusual. Hidden within the mint was this beautiful flower.

She says it must have been an Easter Lily from a few years ago that she’d dibbled in with little hope of ever seeing it again.

It sure made her happy though.

It’s got a powerful perfume too. No need for shake and vac with that around.

She got a second spurt of energy when it was safely tucked in a vase so we migrated to the back patio to week some more.

I’ve found the greatest spot there for overseeing my kingdom. It’s just the right height to get a perspective on all the traffic and critters.

Well ventilated too and of course matches my outfit very well.

You’ll have heard the saying “take up thy bed and walk”.

Well my bro has taken it literally.

He’s moving into his own apartment.

Since April when college ended he’s been living back at home but it seems that taste of independence was too good to miss.

He’ll be paying his own rent and working full time and is not sure if he’ll go back to college or not.

Ma and Dad and me think he has to take care of himself but we can’t tell him what to do.

Life’s all about choices. This is a big one for him so all we can do is wish him well for the dawn of this new day.

We hope he comes visiting and doesn’t forget about us.

Herself was at work at the antique store today. I don’t mind that as it keeps the snacks coming.

What I do mind though is that she stops at yard sales on the way home and buys more “treasures”.

She then sits for NINETY minutes trying to work out what the mark is on a set of four teacups and saucers (there’s also a cup and a saucer with chips so she’s not counting them) that she found. “Don’t you understand Scooby Teacups sell in a Tearoom”

She thinks it’s Dresden so if you know for Pete’s sake send her a message.

Now reader imagine my frustration. I could fill all four with what I’ve been holding tight to in my bladder since this morning.

I sit up, I lie down, I take every pose to show I’m desperate but to no avail. Heck I even try smiling.

One of these days I’ll huff and puff and blow the house down.
