Wagging Tail-301

My Mom was having a rant this morning when we were out with Auntie Denise. She does that from time to time! I just listen and look serious!

She checks the British news in the morning and is often shocked that so little of what is happening in the world is reported by the US networks.

Today was a typical example. There has been a major dam burst in India caused by a glacier slip. It’s all over the British papers and news stations and of course in India too. Many people have died but there wasn’t a word about it on the morning news programs here.

Why is that?

We get it that the Super Bowl was the headlines but not a single word about this disaster!

It’s understandable that there’s a lot going on in this country that is newsworthy and worrisome but a little consideration for global events might help people realize just how fortunate they are and how much they have to be thankful for.

Done! Rant is over. Benefit?

It makes Ma walk even faster than usual which is ideal for me on a freezing cold day. I need to lie down now! It was a footie frenzy!

Blessing # 1002– Exercising Empathy

Ma and me have started following the Biden canines on Twitter. Their cat is there too but we’re not so interested in felines. Champ and Major are taking a lesson from my book and issuing press releases. They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

FOLTOS was on with them this morning taking about the importance of paw people during the pandemic. We got a glimpse of their house. It’s seems a little empty. Maybe they haven’t moved all their things in yet.

There’s a lot more signs of animal life around our place.

We felt reassured that we’re in good company when we got a peak inside HRH The Princess Royals place this morning.

She’s happy apparently that Scotland beat England at the Rugby yesterday.

Her place looks likes such a good place to live. Makes you feel you could feel right at home there. Hope she’s cheering for Ireland now!

We hit a big number in our blessing count today. Who’d have thought we’d get this far.

For us Irish though it’s nothing out of the ordinary!

Ma was on a call this morning and I lay in bed listening. There are a lot of people in the world who have big problems that can’t see their families. I feel sad for them.

I’m so glad I have my bro who took me out today to his Uni. Also a nod to Ma who walked me miles in the sunshine and to my Dad who cut my chicken up real fine for my dinner.

That’s why I’ve decided we’re going to keep going there is just so much to be thankful for. It’s good for the soul!

Blessing # 1000 – Counting On

Wagging Tail- 298

It was a glorious day for our trip up north. We felt like we were on vacation.

We had a little picnic on the way and took a few pics before we got to our destination.

We were really good and kept our social distance from Miss Laura and her brood but we sneaked in a very quick hug for her and her daughter Laurel and lots of cuddles with her three pooches.

We did a BIG walk around her town as it was a balmy 37F (+2C). We dreamed we were in Connecticut. I’ve never been there but Ma and Pa lived there long long ago.

They loved it so and miss all the people and places they knew there like the bandstand on the green!

The area where Laura lives is called the Western Connecticut Reserve so go figure a few settlers had the same idea as Ma.

We felt so happy to see our dear hearts and to have the hope that someday soon we can give them bigger hugs and even kisses again.

In the meantime we exchanged some early Valentine’s Day gifts and good wishes.

Blessing # 999 – Loved Ones

Wagging Tail- 297

I’m so glad I’m a guy. You don’t have to fuss with hairstyles and clothes. You know there are now sites all about canine couture and coiffure!

Men like me just get up and give ourselves a good shake and were ready to roll. It’s hard to beat perfection!

All the pinky stuff is fine by me I’m even attached to some of it. It’s also OK with me though that Ma takes it away to sell provided she leaves by piggy.

I can even handle a girls day out provided there’s a good walk involved.

I’m writing early because that’s just what we’ve planned today. I’m super excited at the prospect of a two hour road trip north to Auntie Laura’s. We love her!

She has a menagerie of critters and all her canines are going to take me sight seeing around her little town. I’ll leave a few postcards just to show I made the trip!

Blessing # 998 – Sisterhood

Wagging Tail- 296

Some people are planning to take a very special vacation sometime soon.

Mum and I’d settle for a trip to the seaside for an ice-cream but they are going into space.

Of course it was one of my kind who was the first earthling to travel outside our blue planets atmosphere and that was way back in 1957.

The big question is are there other tourists out there.

Seems some debris was found recently floating around us like a satellite that seems to be extraterrestrial.

A really smart man called Avi Loeb explained why he believes it came from way out there in the universe and was made by some other civilization.

Wonder what the builders are like? Ma says since they must be really super intelligent they’ll have extra special bonds with close companions just like we do!

Blessing # 997 – Traveller’s

Wagging Tail- 295

We got more snow overnight so everything looks real pretty even if it has invaded our screened porch.

Ma said I was having a lot of dreams last night must be because the snow makes everything so silent. She said she heard me make my dream barks that are like little squeaks. Of course I can’t confirm this as I was snoring.

Ma said I must have been chasing scary monsters. So we made one this morning!

It’s really deep our snow right now and comes to the top of Mum’s boots.

She says that’s why we can’t walk off the road track otherwise it drops down inside and wets her feet. It’s great for dry cleaning our outdoor furniture though.

It’s also very bright outside so we opened the curtains to let the sunshine in and it was so cosy I had a good sleep while

Ma and Pa were zooming.
They were learning all about Buddha. He seems like a regularly good sort of dude. A bit like myself. Wonder did he dream under his tree.

Blessing # 996– Zen

Wagging Tail- 294

Finding treasures and giving them second chances is the best bit of our little business.

Sometimes our little lovelies are all mucky but with just a little soap and a toothbrush they can be transformed. We’re discovering new techniques all the time. Like this weekend we cleaned up a little kids lamp and even washed the lampshade that had a water mark and other stains. It turned out great!

Sometimes it takes a little more work. Maybe a nip and tuck or a little bit of paint.

Other things may need no work at all. All they require is finding the right home. Some people prefer and value certain signs of age.

In our thought for the week this morning we asked what you might be able to make beautiful again!

All of that depends on how you define beauty.

Take me for example. In my Mom’s eyes I am the most beautiful soul in the world but she still likes to trim my hair so she can see my eyes. We all, as this wise lady said, just need to see the good in ourselves and others.

Blessing # 995– Touch Ups

Wagging Tail- 293

Like 100 million others in the USA we’re caught in a snow storm. We aren’t that bad but when things go to a Level 2 you are meant to go out only on essential business.

I had some of that to do of course so Ma and me went out with Auntie Denise as usual and I got snow balled.

Dad hates that because it messes up the carpet as those big lumps take time to melt and when they do they leave big wet spots behind.

Ma was meant to work but that got canceled so we stayed home and vegged.

We watched a movie called The Dig. Sounded perfect but there wasn’t a single dog in it. How can you have a movie about digging and no dogs?

After that all we menfolk had a snooze and then when refreshed played pinky.

Now we’re watching a series called Bates Motel. Gory! At least there’s sausages and mash for dinner which is always comforting.

Blessing # 994 – Grounded

Wagging Tail- 292

What an awesome day we have had.

It started off so beautiful.

It was highly productive.

We all had fun and made lots of great finds at a sale in a huge barn at a Fair Ground about twenty miles from home.

There is no way to describe the haul we got.

Dad was in on the job too so we are hanging out now doing our things while herself cleans and sorts and prices.

The best find the cutest little dresser for a dolls house or maybe for spice or jewelry storage.

The funniest. A perfect set for Valentine’s Day! Cheers
