Can’t complain about getting some good outings today. Ma and me did our steps. I’m a happy camper.

She is working on my “listening” skills when we’re outdoors. When she says wait I have to slow down or sit I have to sit.

Now to be honest I don’t comply unless I’m sure she has my treats in her pocket. Even then it’s hit or miss.

Unless I smell those little yummies I’m doing what I want. When she has them in her paw though I’ll do most anything.

I’m getting good though at getting her ready for the road. My latest “trick” is getting her gloves.

She thinks I’m super clever. Little does she know it’s all because they smell so hot!

Usually on Friday my Mum is full of fun but today she is feeling flat and frustrated.

It started this morning with her trying to fix a stand she bought yesterday that in theory was to be a perfect piece for « merchandising » at the antique booth.

It’s a piece of junk if you ask me but nothing would do her but she’d fix it. She thinks it will be ideal to stage her greatest “treasures

There’s as much glue on it to hold together the proverbial Gorilla! It’s not sturdy though I predict disaster. After collapsing at least ten times I took shelter behind the sofa.

Took hours to get it stuck together and that glue would give you a sore head. Hope she’s not going to display anything valuable on it when she does take it to the store!

She then hit on the bro as soon as he surfaced to go out with her. She can’t get his attention for even an hour to get his new phone or do any shopping as he’s too preoccupied with work. They are short staffed and he’s doing double shifts.

She tried to reach the Apple store herself but after hanging on the phone for half an hour to get an appointment she gave up. Santa better get busy to fill those stockings!

So we’re just mopping around the house watching YouTube videos about the Royals. They usually cheer her up. Makes her feel that even the most rich and famous don’t always get their own way.

Man I love the snow. Some places not too far away got feet off it. We only got about three inches. That’s enough to make snowballs.

I love rolling in it and chasing people around the yard. This morning I took off for a while but return for a treat.

Auntie Denise took a pic of me and Ma as we never get our photos together when we’re out for a trot. Today was too good to miss.

Dad doesn’t like it when we plough into the house with the white stuff on our feet but what to do?

It soon dries and I kinda like licking it too. Very refreshing after a good two miler.

Ma is besotted with the beauty of it all. She’s especially happy with how our baby fir tree looks that she planted in summer 2018. It’s because I arose it well when we go out the front door for evening job!

I’m just dying to get out and play some more never mind taking photos woman.

Let’s make snow angels like himself use to do when he was my age!

The bro got up early to see what he’d got for his birthday.

He seemed happy enough with what was in his bag even though it was only edibles.

Ma refuses to buy him anything with an I in it unless he is there to pick it. He hasn’t had a minute to go shopping with her.

He ate a box of Ferrero Rocher for his breakfast and then had another snooze.

I was extra specially loving to him and we shared a little more sweetness before he headed out for brunch.

He may have had a feast but all I got out of that outing was a few dry crackers.

Oh well it’s his birthday so I suppose I may be thankful. After all my fortune cookie did say « Do into others as you’d have them do to you »

So I smacked a big slobbery one on his lips as he headed out to work.

It’s the bros birthday tomorrow. He will be 20. No longer a teenager! An old man compared to me!

He’s working the late shift tomorrow so Dad is making us a special dinner tonight. We are having the bro’s favorites scallops and salmon.

As Dad likes peace when he’s cooking Ma and I had to get offside. So we took a run up to the project that is currently stalled. All we could do was water the plants.

We decided since it was a good day we’d do a bit of site seeing.

It’s impressive.

He’s not a notable President but must have been a decent sort as he had a dog a bit like me.

Now we are home and Dad is putting the finishing touches to the feast.

The timers on so I’m off the aroma is amazing.

You can feel a little dull at this time of year especially when things aren’t going to plan.

Ma dissipates the blues each evening by binge watching her favorite programs while drinking wine and eating Indian snacks.

I try to convince her that what she needs is comedy not nuns or other antiques and most importantly that I need those snacks more than she does.

She won’t listen to me but the scales speak louder than my bark.

So once more, after this morning’s weekly weigh in, we are counting calories and « eating healthy »

Man oranges suck. They make your mouth go all crazy. I much prefer those good spicy Indian snacks.

Today is special because the bro passed his final maths test and the vaccine took off. Miraculous!

Ma said we must mark the occasion with a surprise cake for the bro when he gets home from work.

Wouldn’t you think that a woman with a Degree in Food Science would be able to make one?

NO!

Even though she watches the Great British Bake Show every week and their masterclass as well she still messes up because she’s always cutting corners!

Some people like Laura, with help from little Luna, make cakes that look like they should be in a cookery book.

They inspire my ma to try. Only problem is she tries to make a cake with a kit destined for cup cakes.

I smelt a rat and I was right! It came out like a pancake.

The sticky crumb stuff went in my crunchies which was a perk though!

The frosting, which is thicker than the cake, is happily hiding a multitude of sins.

The bro won’t care. He’d eat anything. Come to think of it so would I.

Mother almost forgot to come home. She’s given me no attention today at all.

I’m feeling miffed.

It was almost dark by the time I got out for the evening ablutions.

She didn’t even think of me first she was all concerned because one of her big balls had fallen off the tree so we had to fix that first.

Clearly she had not got her priorities right.

Benefit of that later outing though is that you do get to admire the fairy lights.

The old heavenly ones weren’t bad either. The one upstairs sure can put on a great show

I had a shocking experience today. Nearly fainted!

My beloved Pinkie suffered an injury.

I brought the wounded one to Mum.

She started poking him with a big pin. He never so much as squeaked.

She then gave him back to me and the two holes in his little body where his innards were coming out weren’t there anymore.

She said he needed a good rest and maybe, at some stage, a good wash.

So I’m taking care of him while he rests and recovers and we’ve all just had a good nap. Restored for the wonders of weekend ahead!

High energy in the Ma today. She had the urge to keep going so I encourage that as it usually results in a treat.

After our walk she started on her candle making. She collects all these little bits over the year and then makes a few « memory candles » for her nears and dears. They are most peculiar looking all mixed up colors but say nothing if you get one. Just pretend it’s « interesting »

What better day to make them though than Hanukkah. She kept one for herself because it sorta backfired. We all need a little light so why not.

After the candles she took to the cookies. Dad had suggested going to Gordon’s the foodservice store and buying those frozen ones that you stick in the oven and wait. The bro had another opinion he said he’d rather have Ma make them. So of course this made her smirk.

He’s not stupid that lad. She smothered a whole stack of them in chocolate just for him and left him a variety plate for his return from work. They are gigantic! Meal in a munch!

Of course I can’t complain because she made me some little ones too minus the brown stuff. They were good!

I could get used to this festive season if it wasn’t for all these songs she insists on playing as does her stuff.

Even poor Dad got fed up with Rocking Around the Christmas Tree. So we’re bantering to Light Classical. Not sure it’s any better. I’ll take the Rap!
