Wagging Tail- 222

Today has had its ups and downs mostly ups though.

The roofers arrived at 6:45 and started hammering. Fortunately we were all already up!

No sooner had they started that the rain came. Soon it was pouring.

After about an hour of getting soaked the men came down and called it quits for the day.

Ma and I had to go drop off something at a friends some distance away. We passed the Amish store and bought bacon. There’s is the best it fries up great and doesn’t let you down by shrinking like the supermarket variety.

Having done our business we did a little shopping at a thrift shop and two estate sales.

Of course Ma, like a homing pigeon struck gold. She found beautiful pieces and more art to put up at the tearoom some day.

The most wonderful find is a bowl by Taste Setter Sigma called Lovebirds. It’s on feet and has holes in the bottom like a colander and sits on a matching plate.

If anyone knows what it’s function is please speak up. We’re speculating it’s for holding pasta or salad or maybe strawberries so any remaining water would drain down onto the plate.

We were no soon home and investigating all about our treasure than the rain stopped, the team returned went back up and nailed down half a roof of new shingles.

Blessing # 886 – High Hope

Wagging Tail- 221

I’d just snuggled up to my Mom as she was having her second coffee when the door bell rang and a whole troop of men arrived.

I’m totally traumatized. They attacked my house and I can’t get out to protect it.

They dropped this big blue sheet over my barking window so I can’t even intimidate them from indoors.

They are throwing things all around and making a racket banging and knocking.

Mum said I shouldn’t worry and took me out to see what was going on.

I thought Santa was scheduled for next month but there’s a hooded man on my roof! Hope he leaves me something good!

Blessing # 885 – Tip Top

Wagging Tail- 220

Mother is a little low. The whole Heating and Cooling system is back to square one. A full month lost in the plan. Too many details to cover by a canine.

Suffice to say I had to be super sweet to her today. She is being philosophical and treating this as a fresh start but she hadn’t the heart to go to the house today.

Instead we went shopping and got an enormous frozen object that she says will be roasted next week. While she was in the store I took the drivers seat to keep it warm for her.

We also did a lot of walking as that generates endorphins that are good for the soul.

Blessing # 884 – Take Two

Wagging Tail – 219

I feel like a sloth. So would you if you’d been up at five making websites.

What the heck. Why doesn’t she do things like they did in 1875 when that wretched building was built.

I’d send a pigeon or two out myself. I’d even chase them to spread the news but no oh no. « We need a website Scooby and I’m making it because I’m on a budget »

When she gets into a pickle like she did with the alignment of opening hours she has to divert to paint. So she took off and left me with Dad.

He is getting terribly frustrated with the TV or whatever they are talking about so he throws my pinky at a certain persons image.

Herself did more greening. She transformed what she and Paula call the monster into the GREEN monster.

There is no end. I’m scared real scared that I’m going to look like the Grinch this Christmas.

Blessing # 883 – Merchandising Materials

Wagging Tail – 218

Today you wouldn’t believe that Ma has a project. She just did regular Mummy stuff.

She changed the bed and did some laundry and then took me for a three miler.

It was then time for Tuesday morning group. Dad didn’t go as we were waiting for the men to come and change our roof. All the materials were delivered yesterday and are piled in the driveway. They didn’t come and had to reschedule as they are short staffed because of COVID. So he waited for the call on when they’d start. It’s Friday now as high winds are in the forecast for Thursday!

When Ma came home she had a sandwich and I thought she’d take off like lightening but she relaxed and watched TV.

When her program was over she switched to her favorite new You Tube Channel.

It’s called Adirondack Girl at Heart and is all about hunting for antiques and especially interesting for Ma pricing!

I sit at her feet and listen to it all hoping she’ll have a cookie or two while she watches and drop a few crumbs my way. She usually does!

It’s hard work snacking so we had to have a relax. She read her chapter for her Lily Circle book study and fell asleep.

So now we are just up and getting ready for another wee dander.

There’s not even any cooking to do as there’s still leftover from the Indian feast.

It’s the life.

Blessing # 882 – Rest Day

Wagging Tail- 217

Ma got to work early today to arrange a call with the architect and engineer to discuss the heating installation permits.

She got a slot at 11:00 so was a bundle of nerves waiting so moved into manic mode.

She speed walked me to the park and when we came back decided she was going to repot plants. That didn’t keep her going for more than fifteen minutes so she took to the windows.

She is quite frightening when she starts squirting. Screens were flying off in all directions. I stood very still.

After her call she was all happy smily again as they made some progress so she said we could go to work.

The scope of today’s project was to research gluten free possibilities for the menu.

It’s not that easy. If anyone has ideas they’d be welcome. We drove to a number of bakeries near the project and some foodservice outlets and supermarkets but options are limited especially for baked goods.

I’ve been on a gluten free diet myself until recently when Dad goofed and bought me the wrong stuff. Now I’m weaned onto that wonderful molecule that makes bread rise and cake spongy.

It was a fun day as the radio is now playing Christmas songs. So we cruised and caroled and even took a little trip to the beach.

Each time we stop I pop into the drivers seat. One of these days I’m going to toot that horn and give some old lady a big shock. Bet with my head down people think I’m just a curly haired dude waiting for his wife!

Big words are not my thing. I work best with sit and stay. That doesn’t mean I don’t understand them though.

On Thursday when Ma woke up she said Thessalonika. Well yes of course! Let’s go!

I don’t know what she’d been dreaming about, vacations maybe, but she soon was reading a letter Saint Paul wrote some 2000 years ago to the dudes who lived there.

I listened. He was a good man that Paul. Very upright. He really cared for people and wanted to be close to them but he was stuck far far away.

The Thessalonians surfaced again today Ma told me when our Pastor Larry preached about this same letter of Paul

Even though it was written such a long time ago it’s very timely. It’s all about people who want to be together being separated. Encouragement from afar was what Paul was good at.

We can all do that Pastor Larry said so I thought I’d act on that and send you a little love as another Paul said. It’s all you need!

Happy Diwali everyone especially to my Indian relatives. We talked to my Uncle, Aunty and cousins in Mumbai earlier and will call New Jersey family soon.

I’m blessed to live in a multinational household. We start the annual eating season with Diwali, move on to Thanksgiving for yours truly, the only US citizen in the house, then Christmas for herself and finally Chinese New Year. It’s a non stop bonanza of frantic feasting.

My Dad has been working on today’s meal for days. I don’t know if it’s because of COVID or what but this year he is really pushing the boat out especially on the sweet front.

He even made me a special portion without spice all chopped up with love to go in my kibble this evening.

We have lit our little lights and are getting ready for a good tuck in. We’re having appetizers right now.

I’m happy and thankful and feeling very ready to celebrate and be with my family tonight.

Blessing # 879 – Party Time

Wagging Tail- 214

I’m excessively late because my secretary has been going non stop all day and is just now sitting with wine.

I’ve been chilling and playing with my Dad. He is so good to me and we snuggle up real good.

Ma has been panicking today because the temperatures are set to plummet tonight and she still has no heat. So she had to mobilize storage heaters from the general contractor and pray.

She went to work at the mall and when she got back at 9:00 she had an email that nearly drove her insane. The heating and cooling people had sent a revised quote that is, drum roll needed, FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS more than their original.

I know that now she won’t sleep so I decided to get some kip while I can.

She had to have British diversion so she is watching Graham Norton on play back. It’s boring except for Dolly Parton.

Blessing # 878 – Nine pm to Five am

Wagging Tail – 213

It’s as well as I have « Pinky » to keep me company because I was home alone most of the day.

Herself is all pumped up because her blue floor is just « perfect » and Dad is happy as a clam because Aaron came home and took him shopping for Indian food for Diwali that’s on Saturday.

To celebrate her flooring fantasticness she had to do a little shopping.

She found a beautiful hand painted tray and a plate with pink orchids that are perfect for her green room.

She also found a headboard that will one day be a sign for the business.

That wasn’t her idea though it was her new pal Paula’s. She’s smart!
