Booming Banter

I am gifted in my ability to look sad! When I put on that “no one loves me even though I am an exceptionally good soul” my Ma sometimes is taken in.

This works especially well when she has not paid me much attention like today when she was out meeting the architect for our venture. Guilty!

I sit up close and look deep into her eyes until she caves in and takes me for a ride in the car. Quite honestly I don’t mind where we go as long as we go!

I even smile and accept selfies in this situation!

Just call me Oscar!

Blessing # 786 – Playing the Martyr

Auntie Lori came round this morning in her red convertible and I thought for a moment I was getting to go for a ride with the top down. She got out though gave me my treats and her and Ma took me for a quick trot. They then took off like a Thelma and Louise leaving me stranded with Dad.

Their intentions were good though they were off to plot for the new establishment.

First they sussed out the house and then explored the history of the town including all the Harding history.

Auntie Lori you will glad to hear thinks Ma made a good decision and that the house is fabulous and totally suited to her new tea-room and treasure venture.

All the thinking made them hungry so they went to lunch and at the place where they ate they explained to the owner about the plan. The lady was really lovely and said she did catering and even gave them free desserts to taste!

Onwards and upwards they went shopping and discovered a GREAT boutique with beautiful dresses and best of all a girl for me.

She is, wait for it a TEACUP Yorkie. No bigger Ma says that my face but very sweet and loving.

Her human owns the dress store, in fact she owns the whole building so she is well connected and ready to help us make a success of our business.

SWEET really really SWEET

Blessing # 785 – Old & New Friends

There is no turning back today! I’m officially the chief security officer  of a new establishment.

Ma rushed to downtown Columbus this morning to get the insurance signed, sealed and delivered. Came back took me out for five minutes went out to get the groceries and returned huffing and puffing.

Hot hot hot! Glad she was busy!

After another very brief outing she and Dad took off again to sign the deeds on our new deal.

Keys in hand (note the auspicious green sticker!) they went to inspect and found a surprising little welcome at the door.

Maybe it should be The Lily rather than the Rose or maybe both.

The Lily and the Rose does have a ring to it. Is there anything new under heaven!

Blessing # 784 – Blooms Abound

I’ve got a fan on the west coast. Her name is Nala and she wrote to me last night to say I was late with my blog. Cute kitty! Well I’m late again tonight because the secretary has just returned from work. Women!

The same lady hauled me out of bed before dawn so she could hang out with me for some time and watch her Church in Ireland. They do tell some good jokes there though. Worth getting up for!

She likes to take selfies but I find that boring I’d much rather watch the action than pose for pics.

She took me for a short trot before going to our church here. She and auntie Lori were a double act on the doors.

Alas I was not allowed otherwise Lori would have brought me treats. She is such a smart lady.

When Ma came home it was hot as hades so rather than walking me again she took me down to Josie and Georgia’s so I could run around their yard. Love those girls.

Off she went again to work and is just back. Thought it was about time I gave her a smile and said CHEESE. Should keep her happy for an hour or too! Might earn me a treat or two too!

Blessing # 783 – Digital Cameras

 

Ma has been out most of the day tagging for the tea-room. She is filled with joy.

For a place called Red Rose Revival can you believe what she found.

A million glasses wrapped for direct shipping to the new establishment  and ………… la piece de la resistance ……… a teapot with ROSES!!!!!!!!

Me? I found my joy too with a big bag of cheese puffs

Blessing # 782 – Destiny

My Ma was working today so left us men folk alone to hang out. It was mostly Pa and me!

See, the bro emerged at midday, ate something, left, returned with more food, ate that and left again!

He left the remnants scattered around the living room and that caused fury in Ma when she returned. Why the x$&@ can he not put his mess in the trash can!

She had been feeling all chuffed with herself because she found a little treasure at the thrift store for her tea-room on the way home.

Seems it quite a rare little piece and the colors are fab.

She hoping if she rubs it maybe a genie will jump out of it and clear up after the bro. She says I’m tidier  than him.

All I can do is say I love him messy or not and watch for him till he comes home

Blessing # 781 – Aladdin

Herself slept a lot better last night it must have been that wee dram she had after her usual wine that  knocked her out.

She was in a much better mood and was running around as usual like a headless chicken.

When she got back from yoga she squeezed in a haircut for Dad with my clippers before taking me to meet Auntie Lori.

It looks OK and is called a Short, Back and Sides!

I wouldn’t mind one of those myself as my eyebrows are starting to impede my vision of squirrels and bunnies.

She’d have a lot to cut though as my hair is now rather long. Not sure I’d fancy taking that risk. She might leave me naked.

I’ll need to reflect before giving her the green light and certainly will wait for a day when she is fully focused and well rested.

Blessing # 780 – Sleep and Shears

Women are weird. They want something but when they get it they can’t content themselves. When I get what I want I have a good sleep. Ma? She’s got worse with the tossing and turning and it’s having an impact on our life.

Today she was sure the tea-room had great potential so she hauled poor Dad to the kitchen equipment store in Columbus. When they got back she said she had to go to the pool to think! I wondered was she going to jump off the deep end!

When she got back she hardly said a word. I was starving but she completely neglected that and got into making tonight’s dinner Turkey Tetrazzini.

She’d decided on this because she had mushrooms to use up but the woman’s mind was clearly not on the job. Just when she had everything ready for the oven she turned around and there were the mushrooms washed and waiting on the counter.

The language was not for the faint hearted. Put it like this even I was glad Dad was not in earshot as he would have been severely startled.

She cut the fungus in half arranged them on rather than in the sauce and covered them with cheese. Heaven knows what it will taste like when it’s baked but the outcome was good for me.

She tossed a handful of cheddar in my kibble. Oh YUM!

Blessing # 779 – Saying Cheese

We had a good morning with the ducks. Auntie Lori is back from her road trip and brought them treats but of course she gave me mine first. I’ve missed her so!

When we got home there was an auspicious visitor at our garage door. Mr Cardinal waited while we took his pics.

The news he brought is good! We are going to complete the purchase of our 1875 « project » on Monday.

Ma swung into action to get the finances finalized and the insurance organized before she left for the Chamber of Commerce, and the Planning Office.

The bro and Dad were so impressed with her speed they took care of dinner.

I can’t wait because she has told me I’m getting to go with her to work once we get the keys!

Hope she pays with BACON!

Blessing # 778 – Tasting Success

 

It’s been a sort of stinky day around here. Ma was in a foul mood from the moment she got out of bed. Lack of sleep again!

She had a humongous shouting match with the bro even before I got out for my first job.

When she looses the temper it’s bad but honestly he does stir her up. I felt like running away but then I thought of Dad and chips.

That poor man is so good to her and all of us and yet she ate the face of him also.

She had to boil four dozen eggs for some reason or other so she went to the store to get fresh ones. When she came back Dad had already started with the ones in the fridge. Talk about huffing and puffing all because he ripped up the stupid egg box.

Crikey what a stink like one gigantic fart. It was definitely a case of eggs and exasperation. Thank heavens there was no onion in the mix that’s better with cheese in chips!
