Ma and I had a great little siesta fiesta yesterday afternoon. When we woke up we were a little hungry but it was too early for dinner.

Let’s make ginger snaps Ma said while Mega is snoozing. So we pulled out the old recipe book and got busy.

As we had no golden syrup we used maple syrup instead. We also, by accident, overdosed the baking soda. These little gaffes may be the cause for the disaster that ensued.

The cookies were crap.

They looked horrible

Were burned on the bottom and had a texture like granite.

Yet the dear Dad still ate some and his only comment was that he could have used a little more ginger. The man’s à saint!

Ma ate some too since they were her doing and of course I helped her out. I even pretended I liked them so she wouldn’t be offended.

We’re committed to trying again. If you have a good recipe that’s full proof please share. Maybe we’ll take some snaps of the snaps like these bread heads did.

Ma needs no excuse to drink wine but today we will actually have something to celebrate.

Dad’s hemoglobin is up again and he is even feeling good enough to leave Mega and me and go with Ma to Tuesday Morning Group. You can’t complain about that can you?

I’m staying home supervising the red neck as she’s eating her bone so I’m concentrating on being regal.

Ma had a good night sleep so even though it’s freezing she took us for a long walk.

When she sleeps well so do I as I don’t have to wake up and toss around protecting her.

All seems very fine with the world. I’m even tolerating the trouble that is below me

On Saturday night the battery in Mums car packed up. Fortunately she was at the antique mall when it happened and her friends Debbie and Roger came to the rescue and jump started her.

So yesterday the bro had to drop her at the mall and pick her up. Result was she was able to take some pretty pics on the way home of the sunset.

As you can see the sky had cleared, the gloom was gone and the splendor of the sky had returned.

Our sunsets and sunrises are so pretty here.

Our kitchen faces West so we get great colors coming through our window when we’re doing the dishes. Makes even the stickiest pot polishing pleasant.

Last night we thought the purple and pinks matched one of our orchids that is in full bloom to perfection.

Don’t you love it when that happens and colors are all matchy matchy?

Anyway Ma has had to leave her royal highness and me at home. We’re having a great time play fighting and driving Dad demented.

Ma is at her favorite garage 42 Auto getting the car fixed.

The sun has well and truly set on that battery.

Talk about gloomy it’s hateful today makes me a really grumpy grey gizzard!

All Mega is doing is chewing. She’s not even up for a fight.

Ma meanwhile is Facebooking. Fortunately some sites like her favorite Pudgy Picker involve dogs.

Others explain what not to feed us which annoys me no end. Limits my opportunities.

Mega eats everything including Christmas Trees and it has unfortunately done her no harm as yet. That tree should have come down on twelfth night but Ma says it brightens things up so it’s staying up till she feels inspired to remove it.

She’s made the change it seems at the tearoom and is all set for Valentines.

She was ecstatic when she discovered her lady teddy has a little light in her heart that beats to music.

She’s not hard to please my Ma when it comes to toys and playing shop.

Pity she wouldn’t come up with some ideas for dogs. She need the business. It would be most unique I think to have a place for pet parties. I could be the host with the most!

You gotta dream of what might lie ahead even when it’s currently covered in clouds.

This morning as I was stretching and doing my up dogs and down dogs I was listening to the news.

The escape of a sea lion from sea world in San Diego gave me a great idea.

The critter ran four miles away from its place of confinement even across an interstate highway.

It was eventually captured and returned to its lodgings.

I’ve been known to take off myself chasing vehicles. White SUVs are my penchant. The furthest I’ve gone so far is half a mile.

So you ask what’s the idea?

Well it hit me like a meteor when I heard this story.

If I tell the red neck about the sport of racing and teach her to chase cars she might keep running since she is stupid.

I could get rid of her once and for all.

She’s chipped but I’d do anything to get rid of this constant annoyance. She is really a pain in my neck.

This winter hasn’t been so severe for us until this week that is.

Now we are getting hammered. It would chill you to the bone.

Mom says ever year she does the F versus C comparison to reinforce the point for our kin in the UK and India that it gets REALLY cold in Ohio.

Well today we got a warning from the National weather forecast to layer up and go out only if absolutely necessary! The temperatures they quote are in Fahrenheit!!!!!!

I got a half mile trot to do the necessary but the niece only got as far as the front yard. She’s fast on her jobs and her toes!!!!

So instead of walking we are doing what the Eskimos do and snuggling up and rubbing noses.

Days like this when we’re stuck indoors I’m glad I have Big Ears to play with.

Don’t let on to her though or she might get wind of it and get ideas above her station.

The niece is not well equipped for the current meteorological conditions.

She has see through vestments unlike myself. I’m very well endowed on the fur front.

The cold makes her hyper frisky when she goes out.

She nearly took poor Auntie Denise out three times this morning trying to play tag.

I tolerated her behavior because I knew she is just trying to generate a little heat.

We are contemplating the purchase of a coat but Ma says she has enough to deal with each morning getting her out as soon as she’s fed without dealing with putting on clothing.

Anyway result is we had a short walk and she is back in bed now with the bro.

The parents have gone to the hospital to have Dads aortic aneurysm measured so I’m in charge of Ma Maison and snuggling up in my favorite cosy spot all snug as a bug in a rug.

It’s great to be the man in charge! Ma even gave me two Milk Bones in recognition of my contribution to world peace!

When we go for our morning walk we often see the deer herd. There are usually a lots of does and fawns.

Sometimes we see a buck but it rare to see two big guys together.

We did this morning and fortunately Auntie Denise was able to take some pics to show you.

I was a bit awestruck to be truthful and hung back but see big ears she was all for chasing them.

She nearly pulled the arm out of poor Ma’s socket.

They took off but not after making eye contact.

They must be working in pairs for a reason.

Wonder is that coyote back.

Much as I dislike the niece she better than the other option of local canine critters. We better stick together like those five pointers.

It’s official Big Ears has no class.

She is now without doubt a red neck.

Her Pitty Princess collar had to be retired due to insufficient girth to encircle her thickness.

The sun has now risen on a red choker with hopefully sufficient strength to retain her in check.

You never do know though how long things will endure.

Today the sunset on the blackberry. I never knew one but Ma tells me when she got hers she thought she’d hit the big time. No one could ever have dreamed it would be eclipsed by another piece of fruit.

Look at me though. Who’d ever have thought I’d have to live life with such a baseless beast.

Still though I reign supreme. You got to make a stand when it comes to thrones.

Crazy day

Started last night really

Ma sat up till 10:30 to watch the Christmas Special of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL

You would have killed yourself laughing watching the niece. She thinks TV is for real and each time a dog makes a noise she’s like hello there is a puppy behind that big box.

Result was Ma didn’t wake up on time. The fondue made her comatose she claims. We were all delighted though that Dad could take off the O2 to eat over the flame with us…..

Poor Dad had to come and get her up this morning as she was still snoring an hour after he was due to get his meds.

Missed Auntie Denise and got a quick trot.

Next up she took off with the bro to the antique mall to rejig her booth.

The forbidden city which I learned all about yesterday has less treasures than that six by five feet space.

She got it done but not before she had to start work. Did a bit of on the side between serving the customers

So result is she’s just home and we’re all starving!

I’ll put her to bed early tonight! she can dream of the temple of heaven !
