I’m hanging in there. Only just!

It’s a terribly stressful time for me.

There were suitcases out and big boxes and they got filled with a lot of things from our house and now they are sitting in our kitchen.

I’m scared about what’s coming next. My bro has asked me about a hundred times if I’ll miss him!

Are they planning to pack me off somewhere? My food bowls are still in the same place and I don’t need those knives and forks they packed so maybe it’s all just one big understanding.

Only good thing about today was a trip out with the bro to the dog park. Exercise sure takes your mind of the old worries

Blessing # 792 – Running in Circles

Running late today! My secretary and her husband just returned having left me alone since early afternoon. Man I was bursting for a pee. Feeling very huffy!

The excuse I was given was they were visiting the new establishment with their friends. Truth is they were out eating. I could smell it as soon as they walked through the door.

Don’t they know I have a nasal organ ten thousand times more powerful than theirs. They had Italian. Oregano and basil and garlic not to parmesan and that woman was drinking beer!

Dad is so kind and generous he gave me a whole leftover rib to compensate. Not a chip not a single piece of pasta from that woman though.

Too busy now watching the Democratic Convention to even speak to me.

I’m going to elect a new Mama.

Blessing # 791 – Vote

 

I’m perplexed. Not only is our garage overrun with junk for the Ma’s endeavor now our whole house has taken on the appearance of a rummage sale. It’s like one of those old black and white horror movies.

There are knickers and socks and shirts and shorts all over the dining table. There is bedding in the front room and little bags full of toiletries in the kitchen. Not to mention a dirty great big TV  to trip over in the bro’s room.

Something very strange is going on. The bro got very excited when he got a parcel in the post with a new IPad in it and a backpack to keep it in emblazoned with OSU!

Seems someone is moving out and on this week.  Might have to consider that myself

Blessing # 790 – Milestones

It’s official I’m considered a LARGE  dog! Of course I knew this all along. Read on to find out why!

Herself felt an obligation to take me for an outing this afternoon as she was away till three thirty.

She had to go to the “project” to get a quote on the replacement of awnings. What in the name of the wee man are Awnings? Yawning yes but AWNING!

Now the big question is what color? Don’t ask me I’m color blind but you can help decide on black or burgundy or something else. I’m just puzzled why it’s important at all.

So after excuses about several diversions on the way home to hit Estate Sales and buy more material for the tea-room, in other words fill the garage with yet more junk, she arrives and off we go.

Dog park heaven. Millions of dogs and after a while in the small dog area she diverts me into the large dog area. I’ve made it at last!

Now don’t ask me why but there was a corgi in the large area. small dog! Even if the Queen rates them I felt obliged to assert myself when she came near my Mum.

You’ll be happy to hear that later I was really lovely to her and also to a baby Labrador but sometimes you just gotta be bold!

Blessing # 789 – Self Assurance 

Today it was back to porridge after my adventures of yesterday so I’m going to share what happened next.

There are books like that don’t you know!

Well my story is that I’m an explorer. I roam around the country sniffing out places of historic interest.

One of these days we’ll direct our tea-room guest to take one of my Scooby Tours. I might need transport.

This detail on the Merc would look fab. I’ll sit up front as the guide!

We can take them to Mount Gilead as it’s just a straight road from our establishment.

Good for beautiful old buildings and also of interest to literary buffs.

My talents are endless. Just as long as I wet appetites for return visits.

Blessing # 788 – Events Planning

Today was awesome! I cannot say enough good things about my Ma and I’ll have to report on all our adventures in several episodes.

After she’d done her OOM at yoga I  couldn’t believe my ears! At only 9:00 am she said let’s go car!

When she packed my mini water bowl and a big bottle of aqua vita I knew I was in for a treat.

First stop the beach. Apart from a few men fishing, birds and a family with two dogs we were all alone. So she takes off my leash and lets me run. Man was I glad we had that water.

Thinking that was it I was just getting ready to relax on the way home when herself takes a right turn instead of a left.

Mystery Tour Time.

We drive for thirty minutes and then pull up at this old house in a place I’ve never been. We get out, we unlock the door and we go inside. No one there except us!

We walked all around and even got to go upstairs. That’s when the light dawned! This is the place of my new employment. Better get straight to work and bark a bit!

Just don’t let her sell me even if someone does ask « how much is that doggie in the window ». As a safety measure I’ll maybe need to stop wagging my tail!

Blessing # 787 – My Responsibility

I am gifted in my ability to look sad! When I put on that “no one loves me even though I am an exceptionally good soul” my Ma sometimes is taken in.

This works especially well when she has not paid me much attention like today when she was out meeting the architect for our venture. Guilty!

I sit up close and look deep into her eyes until she caves in and takes me for a ride in the car. Quite honestly I don’t mind where we go as long as we go!

I even smile and accept selfies in this situation!

Just call me Oscar!

Blessing # 786 – Playing the Martyr

Auntie Lori came round this morning in her red convertible and I thought for a moment I was getting to go for a ride with the top down. She got out though gave me my treats and her and Ma took me for a quick trot. They then took off like a Thelma and Louise leaving me stranded with Dad.

Their intentions were good though they were off to plot for the new establishment.

First they sussed out the house and then explored the history of the town including all the Harding history.

Auntie Lori you will glad to hear thinks Ma made a good decision and that the house is fabulous and totally suited to her new tea-room and treasure venture.

All the thinking made them hungry so they went to lunch and at the place where they ate they explained to the owner about the plan. The lady was really lovely and said she did catering and even gave them free desserts to taste!

Onwards and upwards they went shopping and discovered a GREAT boutique with beautiful dresses and best of all a girl for me.

She is, wait for it a TEACUP Yorkie. No bigger Ma says that my face but very sweet and loving.

Her human owns the dress store, in fact she owns the whole building so she is well connected and ready to help us make a success of our business.

SWEET really really SWEET

Blessing # 785 – Old & New Friends

There is no turning back today! I’m officially the chief security officer  of a new establishment.

Ma rushed to downtown Columbus this morning to get the insurance signed, sealed and delivered. Came back took me out for five minutes went out to get the groceries and returned huffing and puffing.

Hot hot hot! Glad she was busy!

After another very brief outing she and Dad took off again to sign the deeds on our new deal.

Keys in hand (note the auspicious green sticker!) they went to inspect and found a surprising little welcome at the door.

Maybe it should be The Lily rather than the Rose or maybe both.

The Lily and the Rose does have a ring to it. Is there anything new under heaven!

Blessing # 784 – Blooms Abound

I’ve got a fan on the west coast. Her name is Nala and she wrote to me last night to say I was late with my blog. Cute kitty! Well I’m late again tonight because the secretary has just returned from work. Women!

The same lady hauled me out of bed before dawn so she could hang out with me for some time and watch her Church in Ireland. They do tell some good jokes there though. Worth getting up for!

She likes to take selfies but I find that boring I’d much rather watch the action than pose for pics.

She took me for a short trot before going to our church here. She and auntie Lori were a double act on the doors.

Alas I was not allowed otherwise Lori would have brought me treats. She is such a smart lady.

When Ma came home it was hot as hades so rather than walking me again she took me down to Josie and Georgia’s so I could run around their yard. Love those girls.

Off she went again to work and is just back. Thought it was about time I gave her a smile and said CHEESE. Should keep her happy for an hour or too! Might earn me a treat or two too!
