I am just curious if anyone else is as mad as my Mom.

She is is a bit manic when it comes to cups and glasses. Unlike my good self who gets by with the same bowl for my aqua, that horror or horrors I have to now share with a certain Princess, Ma has a designated container for each beverage.

She has to drink coffee in the morning from the same mug. Fortunately she has five of these specimens. She had half a dozen until last week when she broke one. It was like the death of a family member.

Now we have about a hundred other mugs but these mugs have history. They were purchased along with a dinner service at the Corning factory shop in upstate New York when she went to Rochester for my cousin Vandana’s graduation in 2000.

The mugs have lived in Connecticut, Shanghai, Switzerland, Paris and now Ohio.

They cannot be used for tea though. That has to be taken from a HUGE mug with paws on it.

I could almost swim in it such is the depth.

For red wine which is her winter tipple we have another large love. It is the sole survivor of a set of four she got as a Christmas gift about twenty years ago.

Her white wine glass is of finest quality and predates her marriage by six years as it comes from a set of 48 of various shapes and sizes that Dad bought in 1980 at La Boutique Danoise in Lausanne. About 20 are still around.

Her fizz for Friday glass is another singlet. She got a pair of them in a yard sale about six years ago. It is perfection for bubbles. « Allows them to rise » If she breaks it they’ll be trouble ahead.

What you may ask does she use for beer or soda? That comes from the can. No other way to drink it! Gotta have it ice cold. Only cans work.

Finally water. Well that is also generally of the fizzy variety so it’s taken from the can too and as for the still stuff we’ll that doesn’t matter as water is water provided of course it’s not from my bowl!

This morning we braved our usual two mile walk to the park because it was sunny and not too windy.

Auntie Denise had her phone so she took these pics to show how pretty it was.

The ice on the trees was all glistening and sparkly. Like Narnia.

Generally I was well behaved apart from having a go at the niece on the way home. She was getting in my way as I was leaving Instagrams on trees and bushes and lampposts.

Since I hadn’t been on the route for a week or more I had to be sure people knew that the Great Scooby is back!

Mega just did two big pees she can’t squirt like me. Maybe it’s a girl thing. Or maybe she isn’t into social media just yet.

Anyway she was very naughty jumping on poor Auntie Denise so she richly deserved the mauling I gave her.

Now she is annoying Mom who is making millions of mini muffins.

I’m feigning exhaustion just to get some peace!

It’s the seventieth anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth’s accession to the throne.

Being regal myself I can understand the challenges she faces every day.

My Mom loves her. Sees her as the Mother of her country.

The Queen is so wise. Like myself!

She may have been one of the few born with a silver spoon in her mouth but she has been dealt some hard hands throughout the years.

Yet her Majesty soldiers on and keeps on climbing ever hill before her.

Now as a very old lady she once again has shown that she is not giving up. Rather, with immense foresight and diplomacy she is preparing the way for her successor to succeed.

I have no doubt we all can learn from this and show that we too can move on and accept almost every situation with grace, compassion and gratitude!

The bro was bored yesterday so he decided he’d weigh in on the baking business too. This time for home use!

We made chocolate chip cookies and brownies. We only got the cookie not the chips as we don’t do chocolate.

He teased us mercilessly and as a punishment got a call from his manager to say as soon as the emergency lifted he had to work!

Served him right.

The niece was annoyed as she had plans for a play day with him. She put on her « I’m a poor princess. Please Pitty me pout»

Did her no good at all. Instead she had to listen to Dad shouting at her and me stealing her Nyla.

I soon got bored with the babe and slunk off to bed.

A shut eye restored me to my usual jovial self.

This morning I was on top form and Ma braved the cold to take me and the menace for a one miler. The snow is pure white and has little sparkly bits in it that are shiny like diamonds. Hope you can see them.

We enjoyed crunching and said hi to some birdies who were the only living beings around. They are all fluffed up to keep warm.

Ma has gone to work so I’m holding down the fort with Dad while the niece and bro snore some more.

They are so lazy not like me at all.

Hi Pitty Peeps! Happy weekend.

Mine started yesterday.

We got so much snow we have been ordered by local officials to stay home. Only emergency vehicles are allowed on the roads! Yippee!!!!

What fun I have had. Never known such joy!

I have also been very busy.

Playing.

Baking

Eating a mountain of pizza that the bro brought home when his shop shut. There was one large for each human so plenty to share with canines!!

Sleeping.

I clean wore out the Grey Gizz. He went white in the beard overnight.

I tried to give him the kiss of life but he pinned me and smacked one on my lips instead.

Hope you have a wonderful time too. I plan to continue making the most of us all being together in our lovely cosy kennel

We were expecting to wake up to at least a few inches of snow.

Instead we got 100% pure ice.

Both the niece and I are partial to ice cubes but these were too small to crunch.

Crunching Across Country

They make a strange noise when they are falling from the skies.

Nala Ice Maiden

They also make the road like a skating rink.

We could pretend we were competing in the Winter Olympics.

Or we could test out our new recipe for gluten free cookies, plan a long fiesta siesta and declare closure.

Guess what we choose.

I listen to Al Roker ever morning on the TODAY show. He’s so funny.

Even though it’s Wednesday he said it was 2/2/22 day. Get it!!

I laughed.

Maybe I could take up weather forecasting myself like that stupid ground hog.

Ma is not laughing though about what lies ahead for tomorrow.

We are in the path of this storm that’s affecting nearly half the country. It’s the ice that gives her the shivers. If you’ve ever had to drive on ice you know that no four wheel drive or special tires help. You just crawl and slide.

She may have to close the Tearoom and stay home.

Can you all join me please right now in hoping we get dumped on that way she’ll have to take a day off and snuggle with me and get that kissy kissy critter out of my hair.

Hello TIGERS!

My first Chinese New Year with y’all.

Granny who is a Rat is doing something special at the Tearoom.

Free green tea made the Chinese way all this week. It’s the good stuff too! She is feeling generous.

I don’t drink tea but I will for sure partake in spring rolls, dumplings and fortune cookies with the Gizz. He’s a pig!

No offense Gizz but it’s very appropriate!

Daddy’s a dragon which explains his appetite and loud and smelly farts.

Grandpa is a dog which is maybe why he can’t stand me. Competition!

See I know so much.

Like a good little ratter Granny found another Treasure in the thrift store so appropriate for this week.

Can you believe it!

KEY message from the master. You must have Purpose, Flow and Patience.

I have mastered the first. It is to eat bones as big as an ox like me.

What excitement we had yesterday afternoon. There was an epic struggle and for once it wasn’t between me and Mega!

The Bengals from Cincinnati made it to the Super Bowl finals.

It was a real bone cruncher. We watched in awe.

Ma was screaming like a crazy critter. Although she took the noise to a new level just now when the monster ate a hole in her favorite chair but I digress.

An Ohio team has never won the Super Bowl and it’s been thirty odd years since the Bengals made the final.

They were the real underdogs but they did it.

The bro will need to start making dough now to be ready for the pizzas that will be ordered on Sunday February 13th.

Is it any coincidence that tomorrow heralds the start of the year of the Tiger.

Just saying those Rams better watch out.

Gotta get going on learning the chant!

You may wonder what a stinky little green thing has to do with a wonderful day well read on buds.

After Church Ma dropped Dad home and she’s like « let’s go Scoob we need to get dumplings and fortune cookies »

See Chinese New Year is approaching and any excuse she gets to stuff her face she takes it. In that regard she’s like Mega. Needs to work on appetite control does Ma.

So we ditched the niece and hit the road.

It is so balmy. The temperate crept up above freezing today so Ma could leave me in the car for a few minutes without being arrested.

At the Chinese store she always finds somethings to tempt her and today it was greens. Fortunately not anything alive that bites humans!

Other people were buying those.

I’d have had to take a back seat if she’d got any living critter.

Back home she starts. She chops up a few of these little boks and fries them and then a few more and then it’s what the heck they are healthy I’m going to eat the whole bag.

Once she starts eating them, with her chop sticks of course to get the full effect, she just can’t stop.

Of course this indulgence induced stomach swelling and sleep. So we just had a great siesta fiesta and are ready for a walk.

We’ll take big ears since we are now feeling refreshed and need to walk off the excess before dinner.
