Wagging Tail- 271

It was all higgledee piggledee here today.

The bro got home around midnight which meant Ma woke up, Dad woke up and therefore so did I. Yawn!

The Mother had to get up at her usual time to get me out for trot before she had her monthly Kairos Advisory Council meeting.

When we got back Dad was still sleeping in the bedroom and the bro was sleeping in the basement. This ruled out both locations where she usually does her calls.

Knowing she’d be interrupted at some point if she stayed in the living room either by the menfolk or my barking we had to hide ourselves in the bros bedroom that he never uses anymore.

I was like a true star throughout the meeting just lying back and listening to all these ladies talking about their plans.

They know just as you know that I can understand everything they say. They can trust me though. I won’t say a word. I’ll just put a sock in it!

Well remember I got real mucky and had that bath yesterday? It didn’t end there!

Herself, on seeing me wet, got a clearer picture of the tats all over my coat.

Out came the dreaded scissors.

I’ve learned that if I stand still and let her have a go at me I get treats for being “a good boy”. Worth it provided she doesn’t take a lump out of me.

I give her about sixty seconds shear time and then I snarl and she backs off and seeks the meaty morsels.

She was still at the job this morning and it ended with a facial revealing the beauty of my eyes.

All the better to see you with as a certain grandma might say!

Some dogs wear overcoats in winter. They can be so posh they get to the front pages.

My girlfriends Georgia and Josie have cute knitted jackets that look like Aran sweaters. Of course they are very girlie girls.

My new pal Woodford’s like me he’s big and butch and sticks to wearing only collars and neckties.

We went playing today at the dog park near our project. Woodfords Mom and mine both got their fancy coats all covered in muck from our paws when we jumped on them to get some treats.

I was so messy there was nothing else for it but a bath when I got home.

I hate baths. That’s one advantage of clothes you can take them off and change them but when it’s your own self that’s mucky well that’s a whole different story.

Ma worked real hard yesterday taking down the Christmas décor and putting up the RED regalia for Chinese New Year.

She was richly rewarded by the man of the orient. The bro decided to give us all Netflix.

Ma was delighted and when he set her up with THE CROWN she binge watched it for the rest if the day.

Dad enjoyed some of it with me until we both dozed off.

Today though I can tell you none of us is sleeping. We are glued to the news as we’re living out a very sad moment in history.

It is beyond words. No Netflix producer could have imagined such scenes.

We have all heard the word Lockdown a lot in recent months but who would ever have believed it would apply to the US Capital building.

May God Bless us all.

Being as it’s the Twelfth Day of Christmas Ma had to get the decorations down today.

This is her least favorite task of the year so she has to sandwich it between things she enjoys to make it happen.

I benefited richly.

We got to go to my favorite park. It was a dry morning and not too too cold.

When we got there, there wasn’t another sinner to be seen so I got to run free.

I decided on the White Tail Loop first and then took a nip down to the pond.

It was frozen so I just admired from afar.

We did the meadow next and met a labradoodle puppy then I had a great romp deep in the woods chasing squirrels.

What fun I had. We saw lots of spooky sculptures made my wind and storm and some great hiding places and then to top it all of who do you think we met?

None other than the man himself the big four pointer White Tail.

He stood there posing like a professional just like me!

Do you have a place in your house that only you sit in? We all do and we know her Maj does at the palace.

Dad’s is at one end of one sofa, Ma’s is at the other end of the other sofa and when the bro is home he sits in the single chair.

I kinda fluctuate as the feeling takes me or the spirit moves me if you prefer. The one that’s definitely mine though is in the kitchen close to the best action. Who cares about TV when there is food on the go!

I’m a bit perplexed now because of the gift the bro gave Dad for Christmas.

It’s meant to be good for his back and give him support.

If you ask me though it like a young elephant in the room.

It’s more in keeping with a throne room than a regular persons palace but as long as it doesn’t stampede we’ll be OK

We have family in different parts of the world so we always keep an eye on the weather where they are.

It’s our little way of checking in on them each day and thinking about them and what they might be doing.

We do our checks in centigrade because that’s what we’re familiar with and look at the forecast for their week ahead.

If we see it’s sunny we imagine them out walking, maybe with their dogs if they have one and having fun.

In India it’s often very hot so we’re glad when we see a cooler day.

In the UK we know a little warmth will be welcome. As for Switzerland we know that snow always goes down well!

Funny isn’t it that no matter what you get most of be it heat or cold or rain or snow when the sun shines bright you welcome it and thanks to those near and dear who share what they did in the sun you can enjoy it even if it’s dull outside your own door.

As you know I earn my keep guarding our home and protecting my family. My bark can be heard a mile away and in the car it can be quite deafening.

I’m really good at sharing and taking care of my toys and allowing my family and friends to play with them. I’ll welcoming everyone to play toss the piggy and even share my treats too.

See when it comes to bones though I’m a wild animal. They are strictly my OWN!

Ma gave me one for New Years Eve and there is no way anyone is touching it not even herself!

Come near me when I have it in my jaws and I’ll give you the biggest meanest growl you can imagine.

I’ll hide under the bed or table if you dare try to take it from me.

You all have to take this life lesson from me.

Save the tough stuff for when you really need it so people know what you’re made of.

What a totally yucky start to 2021. Ma and me were up early feeling frisky but our plans for a long walk with Auntie Denise were scuppered by freezing rain.

It really is nasty stuff so we only did a quick one miler and we are drenched. I look like a drowned rat. No offense to the rodents.

Ma is working all day too so she’ll be driving in it soon. I’ll content myself with indoor activities to get my steps in like chasing piggy and getting Dad to play with rocket.

We must keep fit! Ma told me she feels happy that eight years ago she quit the ciggies this year her goal is to quit the yo-yo dieting.

As you all know she takes the head staggers every now and then and starves herself then she bakes a bucket load of buns and eats most of them herself.

I keep telling her to share the love I’d happily help her moderate her intake.

Maybe this year she’ll listen and just be thankful for small mercies and all the workouts I give her.

I’m not too keen though on all those green things that are part of her plan. If she wants to eat those she better get a second pet.

On the first day of 2020 I took my Ma on a very long walk. Who knew it would be indicative of the year ahead.

A lot of steps have been taken together, many with two friends we drew close to.

The bro walked the stage at his graduation not quite in the way he expected and took the next step to college.

New doors were opened and new lessons learned not least about making choices and being patient and putting things in perspective.

More than a few bullets were dodged not least a lightening strike. The house could have gone up in smoke instead it has a new roof and unlike so many others we’re all still sitting in our favorite spots.

We discovered beautiful places on our doorstep and connected in unexpected ways with familiar places very far away.

Most of all we learned how much we owe so many who take care of us in ways we might never have acknowledged before.
