Those who know Ma know that she speaks in code.

Would you like to drive out to the country, we’ll go somewhere we’ve not been loosely translates to I’ve an urge to go bargain hunting in barns but have not seen any sale advertised today

Poor Da is a sucker for her ploys. So it was that today after she’d fortified him with a good lunch we all set off.

I could sense her panick that after twenty miles we were still driving through the fields of gold as Sting would say.

Just then we hit a place with the fortuitous name of Prospect and she did indeed strike gold.

Three chairs for a dollar and an old telephone table that she got for a buck too. Granted the chairs have no seats and the table is grunge unlimited but she has vision and she has PAINT!

Think of me though dear reader as I was jammed into a tiny space to make room for her loot. She needs a truck for Christmas!

It felt quite cosy though after a while and not at all unlike my safe space.

Oh and I forgot to mention those chairs are going to be used to display the art in the tea-room. Just in case you thought she was planning to move into upholstery! Mercy!

We had to paint again today to prevent a nervous breakdown.

The internet may have been restore but we’ve discovered part of the roof is off.

Our neighbors to the side found pieces of it in their garden yesterday.

The neighbors across the street captured the « touch down » on Monday evening. Now that we’re reconnected they were able to share with us today and we can almost see the roof being ripped off. Good to have if we do need to go through the insurance.

Painting is better than tearing your hair out I suppose so I help her stay calm as does copious quantities of bread with peanut butter and ginger jam!

I’m not sure she’s adding value to her rescues or giving them a better chance to be rehomed.

If it keeps her nerves steady I’ll just stick the snout out the window and breathe deeply.

After six long weeks of being out of commission our fridge freezer is back in the land of the living.

Seems this time we had a Freon leak! I’m so glad it’s working because herself has bought a bucket load of ice cream so I’ll me wrapping my chops around a drop or two of that later on.

Dad is delighted too because he can get a few ice cubes in his whiskey and of course give me some.

Herself was working up an appetite for the cool stuff by spending the afternoon painting a big picture frame in the sun.

She went to a class last night at the antique store to learn all about the Dixie Bell chalk paint products they sell. That way if customers ask what different things are for she’ll have at least a basic knowledge of the range.

Today she « transformed Â» a framed print bought some weeks ago. While she forgot to take a pic of the original frame the revived version looks good.

Puzzled though that those flowers don’t smell like mine on the patio!

We had a bit of a stressful morning. After our walk Ma tried to get the internet working without success. The new TV is fine which is a mercy.

She called Spectrum twice and they were so helpful but each time the WiFi system kept stalling after about five minutes use.

So bottom line is a technician is coming tomorrow to help us.

The bro came past to check up on us and he agreed a technician is needed.

Ma left for the project where is is meeting the public health people to see if the tearoom is feasible or not.

We may have to revise plans but one step at a time.

I’m just glad that we are all in one piece and we are all grateful for your concern.

Not many can say they were struck by a lightning bolt. Good old Scooby Doo wasn’t even scared. Just another one of our Whacky Races

Just after we posted our tail last night we were struck by lightning.

Never in the twenty four months that I’ve spent on this planet was I so scared. My Ma and Pa were too.

There was a crack like you would not believe and the TV sounded like it exploded.

Good news is we did not get hurt and the house did not go on fire.

We lost the landline phone, the router but not the modem so we have no internet, one TV and the garage door openers.

The garage doors are fixed at a cost of $800 so Ma was able to get out and so is writing this for me from Spectrum where she has gone to get a new router and modem combined.

TV will be the next stop and then the landline phone.

I am patiently waiting for her return.

My secretary had just taken up her thumb to write my daily bulletin when the alarm sounded. Tornado.

So as we wrote we waited and listened and watched. It was like night and pouring.

We are lucky to have a basement.

Latest news a tornado is reported to have touched down in Delaware about ten miles from us and there is flooding.

It’s Labor Day and that means the end of summer so many people will be out. We texted the bro to make sure he listens for his local weather at Uni and takes shelter too as it’s moving his way. He didn’t answer us so we FaceTimed him and we were happy to see he is in the dorm with his roommates.

I’ll still keep an eye on the situation but seems the worst is passed for us here let’s just hope it keeps well away from the bro!

My big day was soooooooo BIG. I’ll never be two again but henceforth I will always look forward to birthdays.

It started at five thirty a.m. with a cuddle in bed with my Ma. Da was still sleeping and the bro, who had come especially to wish me well was buried doing who knows what in the basement.

Ma gave me grated cheese with my breakfast and then I did a few down dogs to mediate before Dad scratched my tummy and I met my pal PJ for our morning walk.

My bro cuddled me too and cooked me lunch what else but our favorite steakums!

Could life get better! Well sure if you can party with your gals.

Georgia and Josie came to wish me well. It was awesome and I am a super happy chappy!

I’ve been out cruising with my Ma and Pa today.

We went way out into the depth of the countryside to see if we could find some treasures at barn sales.

Dad was the first to strike gold. This doesn’t happen often as he is fussy.

He loves old maps and such and was very happy he found one. It’s about the Battle of Sinsheim that took place on June 16, 1674. Its a chalcographie from The Louvre and had seen better days but he snagged it for a big dollar. He is all chuffed with the detail!

It was in the trunk flat and secure until I saw a motorbike. That got me so excited I jumped right into the trunk and onto the map. The language was colorful kinda like the flower pot Ma found.

How was I to know a piece of dirty old paper meant to much to my Pa!

I’m forgiven now and looking forward to my big day tomorrow.

Wonder was that why we made that stop at Trader Joe’s for all that fizzy stuff Ma guzzles.

Just as long as I get meat I don’t mind!

My bro came back here this morning with his laundry and I was so excited to see him I started dancing on the table.

We took a ride together to the project. I think I’d make a good receptionist.

That warm smile and welcoming demeanor is not something many are gifted with. I won’t give the snarl unless it’s absolutely necessary.

I did such a great job I got a ride to the dog park and returned just in time to see the bro leave with his fresh washed laundry.

His room mates will appreciate his efforts. I kinda like the original version.

I was mortified when someone commented that the skirt herself was wearing matched me!

Initially my thoughts were how dare they? I am wearing a unique fur of extraordinary quality. Pure unadulterated animal. That skirt is made of a whimpy fluff ball plant!

Later though when she had left me with Dad and I was missing her I got to thinking that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

She can be a bit of a female dog at times and people do say that humans take on their canines appearance!

All she needs is a perm and a few highlight and we’d be like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee! Do you think she’d let me do her hai
